  • In this video I took my Volvo V60 Polestar to the dyno to see if we're making enough power for it to beat an E46 M3. The numbers were shocking!

This is the content I love to see. I own a 2016 S60 R design with the polestar tune and I have been searching hard for information on build guides for some more power. Your videos and Builtforspeed have probably the best Volvo content that I can find on TH-cam. Keep it up, hopefully I can be on my way to more power soon as well. Gotta admit, I love it stock as well.

Woohoo, finally!!!! Definitely start adding that E85 at the end of your fill up.
When you take it back to the track, try launching it in 2nd gear as well as first. With you tune your making great power down low so it should come into boost much sooner during the 2nd gear launch than it did before.

Have you ever tried the Flowmaster for your exhausts? I have your catted downpipe for my C70 and I love it but I'm thinking about getting rid of that big heavy Volvo muffler

@@willriley1619 flow master isn't going to sound good on a Volvo and their muffler quality is crap.

Pretty good numbers. I really didn't think the RICA tune was much more than an IPD or a Polestar tune. Time to get an intercooler and maybe while your there put an intercooler sprayer on there. Ford Volvos biggest problem is heat soak in my opinion even with the fancy Efans that are on them

Hey Gregson, good to see you making good power with your V60R. I bought a low miles V70R just over two years ago based on your videos. Mine is a 6 speed slushbox so my other half can drive it too. Not feeling so bad now about only making 323 hp and a little over 300 torques at the wheels also on a Mustang dyno but on pump premium gas in Texas summer heat. Also looking forward to another run at colder temps. Cheers and keep up the good work! 👍

The blue smoke puffs at high RPM's concern me!
I don't understand the Dyno runs with the door closed and nothing hooked to the exhaust.

Those puffs are NOT GOOD. Any dyno guy worth their salt would have shut down the first run and not done any more before the tune is fixed.

Instant like. Thank for the content! Was this Rica stage 1 or stage 2?

Stage 1 as far as I know. I think stage 2 is for the hybrid turbo.

I m not really sure but the v60 Polestar usually do 350Hp stock if it's the 6 cylinders and 367hp for the next version 4 Cylinders so I am a bit confused by the number here :D

thats true... In Europe you have to fill up with at least 98 octane.
      It's in the manual.

It's to do with how it's measured in each circumstance. At the factory, power is often measured at the crankshaft, where as here, its measured at the wheels. Because of friction in all the moving components, you have losses through each section of the drivetrain (gearbox, differentials etc), so typically wheel HP (WHP) is a lower value than crank HP (BHP). If you look at the overlay graph including the stock run ( 8:52 ) you'll see the stock run hit around 310 for WHP (roughly a 10% loss on the factory claimed 345 bhp), so if you factor that into the new numbers with the car reaching roughly 350 whp on the rolling road, it would come out at roughly 390 bhp from the crank

time to fit a cooler, intake and a methanol kit, will help tremendously with the cooling, when my amb temps are around 28, my intake temps come down to 10 degrees when my meth starts spraying...I tapped into the hot side end tank of my cooler, before the map sensor. running 100% meth will give you cooling + a lil bit of octane.

I'm a little confused. Do you have to have a preset tune or are you able to take the car to a tuner with an AWD Dyno and have it Dyno tuned?
