I leave Christmas up until the end of January. I love to sit and look at it so I’m not in any hurry to put it away.

Hi Lauren. I already started taking my decor down. I am doing it little at a time. I staged a table with boxes and everything will goback into the garage pre organized. I am giving myself until New Years eve to get it all down. Like you, I get a little down removing the decor but so far I am not feeling that drag. Merry Christmas to all the viewers & Lauren please keep up the content. You are like chicken soup to the soul.

As for Xmas decor- I am also catholic so I always wait till after the epiphany. But now I moved from Hawaii to a much colder place ( northern VA). I plan to leave it till later January to keep so lit. I will even cut fresh cedar and spruce from my woods to redo my garland.

My trees turn into Valentine trees. My twins asked when they were in middle school if I could take trees down before Valentines Day.....(It really wasn't that bad)....but, I decided family tree of photos and hearts was my tradition for Valentines Day....I am a heart girl, makes me smile, and others shake they heads. ❤❤❤❤

I enjoy our Christmas decor very much but on December 26th I start taking it down. Even though it is beautiful, I can't handle all the extra clutter too long and like to start the New Year with a clean slate. The entire month of January is spent deep cleaning, purging and decluttering. It just gives me peace of mind.

I love making homemade bagels! They are quite easy and take about one hr and 15 min (that's with 30 min of it rising)
    2 cups warm water (110°F)
    3 tablespoons sugar
    4 teaspoons active dry yeast
    6 cups all purpose flour
    2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda (for the boiling water)
Toopings of your choice (aged Parmesan, flaked sea salt, everything bagel seasoning, cheddar cheese, etc)
In the bowl of a stand mixer add your warm water sugar and yeast let sit 5 minutes to become bubbly and activated. Add half of the flour & mix in your stand mixer with the dough hook attachment. Add your salt and the rest of the flour, gradually 1 cup at a time. Let knead in your stand mixer for 5 minutes on the medium low speed. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl with a clean kitchen towel over to cover. Let stand in a warm place until doubled in size. In the mean time, get a deep saute pan or wide pot filled with water about halfway. You want to be able to boil about four bagels at a time so about that width. Bring water to a GENTLE boil. Preheat oven to 400°F. Portion dough into 12 equal portions. Roll into balls. Place finger in the middle of the ball stretching gently to make a bagel shape with a hole in the middle about an inch wide. Once your water is at a gentle boil add the 1 tsp of baking soda. This will bubble up, but go right back down. Gently place bagels into simmering water. BE CAREFUL not to splash yourself! Boil 25 seconds then carefully flip them over (i use chopsticks) boil another 25 seconds on the other side. Carefully take the bagels out with a slotted spatula and place on a cooling rack to drain. Place your drained bagels on a parchment lined baking sheet with about 2 inches spaced in-between. Top with whatever toppings you like! I notice if the bagels are slightly damp still on top the dry toppings stay on, but you could always use an egg wash. Bake the bagels at 400°F for 25 minutes. If you are using a heavy cheese they will take more like 30 minutes. The bagels will be a golden brown when ready. Start checking them at 20 min, everyone's oven cooks differently.

all the food looks so good! I will have to try both recipes! our family adores acorn squash! It is so sweet! most of the winter squash we like, summer squash, probably only butternut and zucchini! usually, I keep our decorations up until after new years, but I started taking some down today, I think I will leave the trees up, but everything else I am putting away. This year I really wasn't even in the mood to decorate! I have heard that alot from people this year, and I was no exception, I did put my stuff up, but it didn't bring me the joy it usually does! thanks so much for sharing! I love your videos! xoxo

I started decorating my house on November 1st, but it's true, time seems to have passed so quickly.. too bad.. it's a truly magical period.. I'll keep my decorations for the first week of January... On January 6th we'll say goodbye to all this magic...
    it makes me sad..
but at the same time, after months submerged by decorations
"I started the autumn decorations on August 1st"
I also want to see my house return to its natural style..
I hope there will be videos while you take down your decorations, and organize everything.. I really like them..
    A kiss from Italy..
    Best wishes for these holidays

Lauren, this was a great video. I really like the direction your channel is heading. I have made several of your recipes and each and every one of them have been delicious. I am going to make the acorn squash tomorrow it looks and sounds delicious, and the bread and soup this weekend. I have been making sourdough bread for a few years now; it is a process but so rewarding. You can make the starter which is very easy to do. I used the instructions from King Arthur's Sourdough Starter website. I use bread flour instead of what they suggested, but once you make the starter you can keep it going for years by feeding it. I also make great bagels using Joanna Gaines recipe. I will be slowly taking down the Christmas decorations, I love them, but I also like less things around me. Thank you for the recipes and I look forward to your new channel direction. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy New Year!

No, I haven't started taking down my Christmas items yet. But like you said room by room and I'm probably start with the bathroom. There is a lady on TH-cam who makes a lot of bread and I follow her, so far so good. I'm creating a cookbook binder, unfortunately, I have none of my mother's recipes and she passed away in 2018 and was an AMAZING cook. However, I'm learning and it will be the year of knowledge so I'm excited. I can't have a garden since I'm an apartment so I"'m going to the local farmers market this coming year and I' 'm supporting more local shops. Half Price Books is a local bookstore that I'm sure you are familiar with, so I will adventure off there for some old cookbooks. Peppi (sp) Hi Happy Holidays to you cutie, plus all your brothers and sisters (chickens, cats).

I make a country sour dough bread by Chad Robertson of the Tartine Bakery in SF. I used his recipe for making the starter, it is time consuming but for me it's worth it. 💕

I really enjoy your videos Lauren! I already started taking decor down this morning. By Sunday, the tree will be gone. I put the tree up after Thanksgiving and take it down before New Year's. I decorate minimally so it's not so bad but I'm already over it😆

I've had my house decorated since the end of Oct. so I will take everything down tomorrow. Once the presents are gone under the tree, I want my tree DOWN. When my kids were sm. one yr. I took everything down Christmas night. We had a real tree and there were spiders and they had webs all over. I didn't have much décor then, as I do now.

I barely got my Christmas tree decorated a few days before Christmas because my work schedule has been so busy, but I already want to take it down, just not sure I have the energy. But, I already told you all this via text, just wanted to leave a comment to support. Love you!

Thank you Lauren, wonderful video! I keep thinking you would like This Golden Hour youtube channel. She is a lovely mother of four and cooks from scratch. She also has a bountiful garden! She will definitely get you set up with the sourdough recipes. Enjoy!
