  • Our roof top tent was very hot inside once it had been in the summer sun. We considered a number of options to keep things cool and decided to install a gloss white vvivid vinyl wrap to the top of our roofnest falcon. It has made a huge difference. Please let us know if you have any questions at all about our 100 series toyota land cruiser overland build or our RTT.
Here are links to all the products we used for this project.
VVIVD Vinly Wrap - this was the perfect size for the falcon.

Vinyl Application Tools - Could have used a few more felts
    amzn.to/2JXr2ZE
Vinyl Cut Tape - This stuff was trash and didn't stick. I would try something else or just use a razor
    amzn.to/2IsHJeu
Heat Gun - I chose this since it was cheap but had decent features.

Thermometer - Had these from a science project but love using them around the truck

Huge thumbs up, great idea. For installation, it's exponentially easier to install the film in cool temperature, in heat the adhesive activates and makes installation a nightmare. We are so happy to see our products being used for a new purpose! who knew.

Thanks! Installing in cooler temps makes a ton of sense! I will make sure I pass that on.

I advantage to the heat is conventional solar panels I have nothing i carry on my tent. So I have one 405w solar panel. It blocks all the heat.

This was a cool vid, didn't realize just how hot it could become. Here in the desert, white and tan colors are necessary for utility vehicles. I made the poor choice of having a "black LX470" ( but it is sure beautiful) , but I have plans to put a white wrap on the roof of my wagon and have the rack above. No plans to have a roof tent.

Thanks man! I can't imagine what it would be like up there after some desert sun beating on it. Hot or not the black 100s are pretty as hell! Take it easy man!

Float vinyl on with distilled water with a SMALL amount of baby shampoo. It makes things a TON easier!

man thanks for the tip! that makes a lit of sense. vivvid also told me not to try it when it's 100 degrees outside 🤣

@@BradyAdventures i am waiting for the roof rack i want to come in and then I am so getting one of the Falcon tents. So in reality, can someone put a sheet and maybe a light blanket in there on the bed and close it. I'm in Florida, we don't need much covers most of the time.

@@xanthusnoir I think you could probably make that happen. Depends on the blanket and how strong you are :-) I have had some extra stuff in there and it can be vary hard to close and then get latches open. Definitely nothing too thick.

I love my Falcon but I'm on track to get replace it with the James Baroud Evasion with ample airflow after 2021 season

The Baroud tents are very nice! I have checked out a number of their models in person and really like the ventilation while it's opened and closed. Are you making the change to improve hot weather camping or more for condensation issues or both?

@@BradyAdventures ... If I ultimately decide to get the JB it'll be because of 1, more air flow.. and 2, window design. The falcon offers no privacy because of how the rear window zips down. in summer it's either open or closed. If it zipped up like the side doors it could be open for air flow while still maintaining privacy with the rainfly deployed.. i dont know if you are on the the Roofnest Flock facebook group but i've added a fan to go over the top vent to help with air circulation and limit condensation. So far it seems to work but i need to sew the velcro on. the glue didn't stick in the cold air

@@nynomad7625 Thanks for the info. I am on that group but don't check it as often as I like. Can you send me a link to your post with the fan. Thanks!
