55° water temp that's the magic number for shad to start spawning. I hit the James 50 to 60 water temp and the stripers was so thick it was hard to hook into Bass I'm not complaining but I was looking for them Bass so I just got me a couple shad and went up between 14th and 95 and hooked two huge flatheads one was 34 lbs and the other was 42 lbs and even then the stripers was tearing up my bait. Good video the James has a lot to offer if you know where and when to fish. I'm gonna start trying to finish where the chick hits the James more this year I've hooked some of the biggest Bass of my life in the chickahominy.

I grew up in the 804, went to college in Farmville, and stayed in VA til about 2010. Then started chasing my job from GA to MN and now to NC. Nothing beats the 804 area fishing though, man I miss that river.
