    Back with another question!! If i need a pale blue, which colour procion dye would you use? Thanks

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use intense blue that I purchase on ebay. Remember that most blues can be used, you just need to use a very small amount and only soak for a short time.

    Just bought some bubble gum pink procion dye, i need just a barely there pink shade. How much dye would you recommend adding? Thanks

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would cut a test square of sinamy, and add very small amounts of dye until you are happy with the colour. Bear in mind that the longer you leave the sinamay in, the stronger the colour

    What would you use for dying veiling? Thanks

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Modern veiling is usually polyester or similar so you can only use rit-dyemore for synthetics.

    Is there a way of bleaching a pale sinamay colour pure white?

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it will just turn straw coloured. You need factory to bleach and then dye white

    Hi I bought a white hat, but I want it more like a bone off white color what is the best way to dye this?or should I spray paint it, if so with what?

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it is a straw, dying would mean reblocking. You can spray paint with any paint in light coats, let each dry between respraying, or it will get too damp and loose its shape

    Is it same process for straw?

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sinamay is straw, so yes this technique is for all natural straws

    Hi Sara, how can i change the colour of white synthetic flowers to black? Dye or spray paint?

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would be better buying black flowers, you would need to have extremely hot water to dye them, and they would only go grey not black, and of course loose all shape. It is very hard to spray and get the whole of the white covered

    By processing it seems that it goes a lot of water.....you tend to loose the starch, how do resolve this?thanks

      I'm often surprised how stiff the material remains, but I can always restiffen when working with it.

    Hello 👋🏻 hope You don’t mind if I pick your brain. I have a hat that I think is made from this material, it is cream but is it possible for me to dye it Scarlett or would I completely ruin the hat? Thankyou 😊

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, dyeing it would mean it would get wet and completely loose its shape, so it would need re blocking. Hope this helps

    Thank you Sara ... I learnt a lot from your video. I have one question ....How much hot water was in the bowl in the sink. E.g. 2 litres

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Judith, as I only had half a metre of sinamay, yes it was about 2 litres, enough to cover. I dispense with the bowl if doing larger amounts.

    • @SHMillinery
      @SHMillinery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes you can , but be careful to do light coats, and on darker sinamay, you can't spray it paler very successfully
