I always thought it was weird how they tried to do something really cutting edge, with 3D graphics and all, and then used the same old sound effects from Defender.
Perhaps there wasn't budget for a new sound chip? It is a direct sequel of Defender and Robotron, and in a way summarizes all the ideas of 80's gaming before true 3D took over.
There was a big video game crash right around the time of its release, so very few of these machines made it to arcades. I've never seen one in real life (and I've definitely looked for it).
@@Glic2000 They were out there! I think I saw at least 2 of them. It was an impressive design at the time, as I Robot was also... Perhaps the gameplay was too nebulous with the pseudo 3d aiming and all - it would be harder to describe a good strategy.
I've never seen nor heard of this until today...and Eugene Jarvis is one of my favorite game designers!
Man, a game like this would have fit right in on the Atari Lynx!

those were the best sounds in arcade history

"Star Luster" meets "Thunder Ceptor" (Both were Bandai-Namco games)
The arrival at "Paradise"! Seen after 16:00 (Just 41 years after I first played it. ; - )
i like this game, and the missons.
Pretty sure this and Cube Quest are the origin of the Polybius urban legend.
Paradise is baffling: a bunch of women doing pirouettes ending with a ring of them blowing kisses at you. What?
he MUST repopulate the galaxy
Blast Or Be Blasted In The Sequel To ROBOTRON 2084 And The 30th Anniversary Of William's BLASTER!
1983-2013!
At least he was lucky to reach Paradise.
Vampires are the best enemy in the game, not lying.
This looks less like a game from 1983 and more like an indie game from 2013 pretending to be from 1983.
