I found this performance by happenstance. The YT algorithm suggested a video by Thomas illustrating left hand technique, which was deeply informative. I then watched this video by Ms. Campet and what a treasure she is. Her execution and expression are amazing, plus she makes it look so easy. Her other tutorials and performances on the web are phenomenal. Bravo! (I am an amateur cellist and life long student.)
My current favorite bassist on a sister bass (Mine is branded James Cole 1856). Can someone tell me what strings Tom and George put on this one? It looks to be white silk with gold wrapping? And Ms. Campet is freaking amazing.
What are the pieces she is playing? The first is the Arpeggione Sonata, the second and third I’d like to know. I suspect the second is an excerpt from an orchestrated work? And the third is a popular piece of repertoire for double bass that I would love to learn but can’t remember the name of. Can anyone help me?

Mine (which is exactly like it) and is branded within 1856 is called a "modified 7/8". String length and height of the bass is 3/4 (41" mensure)but the body is 7/8 in depth and width. Massive organ like sound.
Love the skill. Great musicianship. But how did you get such a pretty girl with a fantastic figure and tight clothes on to learn how to play the bass. She is wonderful and looks scrumptious.

Andrew Patten the second piece is an extract from Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique and the third is Beethoven 5th scherzo 🙂

The sound is different.
The gut strings are used for barroque music, the metal strings are used for classic and later music.
