“This is stinky farts” had me laughing pretty good. Also the thought of someone starting a fire with sports cards is delightful. But don’t do that Zeeree, seriously find some kids to give your unwanteds or doubles to. I made a bunch of packs of the cards I had doubles of and gave them to my local library to hand out. It turned out to be a big hit! Generosity is the way to go! Happy New Year hockey family!
I have burned up 10's of thousands of cards the last few years. I tell you, it helps the hobby in the long term. For each one I burn, that is one less among the population. The more I burn, the rarer cards become, which is what makes them more valuable. Why do you think companies number cards now?

I tried burning my old Pro Set cards in a fire, and the fire wouldn't even take them.

Good point. A while back my mother saw me throwing out a bunch of commons and inserts and asked if she could keep them and give them to local kids. I was like sure whatever mom, so she also took them to the library and apparently kids were psyched to get them. As much as people worry about population count, in the long term getting more people into the hobby is good for business. Plus, it's cool if some kids get some enjoyment out of cards we don't want.
Knowing Upperdeck and the way they do things, I wouldn't be surprised if Bedard's inscripted FWA is in 24-25 sp authentic. Just like they did with Matthews, and just recently, Seider.

All of the hobby shops by me say you can't buy a case of series 2 unless you bought a case of series 1 this year
I don't care about owning bedard cards so it doesn't bother me but it's just funny how they do this type of stuff to ensure selling their non hype products

Part of the problem, as well, is that UD is STILL pumping out three years of content, and jamming as many releases as possible into the calendar. That's not the sole reason the hobby is somewhat depressed, but it definitely isn't helping matters.
You can complain all you want Zeeree, but buying the product pushes Upper Deck to keep moving the products like this. If people stopprd buying UD products cause of what they are doing, they'll have no choice but to switch it up again. Cause at the end of the day we can whine all we want, were still giving them money 🤷♂️
He doesn’t understand that..just complains when he knows what he’s getting into, and doesn’t pull what he wants….

My interest in SPA is pretty much zero now. Starting to really question if the hobby is worth continuing, given the soaring prices, diluted products, and overall poor quality of what we're getting.
I’m guessing berdard is gonna go for 5.5k on realese and around 5k to 4.8k after a while. Canadian funds

We are reaching junk wax era watering down with upper Deck. Even rookie auto's are becoming worthless since there is thousands of copies of each one. I got into the hobby this June, stopped buying last month. Might be out already lol.
Wow!!! That was not a great box for the amount paid and I can't buy these boxes for that reason. I enjoy your breaks as your breaks are very informative along with the humor. The humor does help and you do provide that. Looking forward to your next break adventure. Happy New Year Zeeree!!!

I agree with the view on the retros. That said, knowing UD is going to keep doing this, the only way we can get them to change is not buying the products. Don’t get mad at a clown for being a clown, ask yourself why you keep going to the circus

Honestly that's why I am keeping my Upper Deck Rookie Debuts and the image variants, /249 base and then the variants are less, heck the retro black rookie variant I think has only 150 cards in existence.

I enjoy ripping, but I haven't purchased any wax, even retail in probably 18 months. The value is just too diluted. Kind of took the fun out of the hobby.
