I think it's a wonderful idea. A lot of the processes could be adapted to more conventional builds. Getting permits in most states will be the bugaboo. In Ground insulated homes make a lot of sense to me.
Yes, I think that there is so much that you could incorporate into your existing home or new construction to make it more efficient. I am intrigued by their water systems and would love to figure out something like that.
I like the concept of Earth Ship. Knew a builder a long time ago who build houses in the ground with one side open windows on South side of house. He might of been before his time.
He did, but that is for them to build it. I think if you were able to find helpers and get materials donated that you could reduce the cost a little. The way they are designed it sounds like after the initial cost you do not have a lot of upkeep and would be essentially off grid too so you do not have those bills.

Sounds like he was for sure!
That was informative. Thank you for that last question, Nate. Kinda made the decision for me!
It was so neat to learn more about the way they are built and how they have evolved from concept through trial and error.
Its so cool you got to stay in one. It’s our goal to build an earthship. I think they are a great choice of home to live in.

I really hope we are able to build an earthship inspired home someday
Im so excited for this video! I've been wanting to see more of the earthship builds since i first heard yall talking about it.
I hope it lives up to the hype!
i live north of there about 2 hours in longmont - love colorado.
"Not cheap" kinda sums up everything these days... I enjoyed learning about earthships, though.
Right!? It is too bad things are so expensive but it sounds like these will last you a lifetime so a good envestment

Doing something good for the environment requires financial effort. If it's done well, however, it pays off over time.
Couldn't agree more. I think it is a large initial investment with lowered cost upkeep than a traditional build.
Sorry but sad news for you, he didn't say $175 per square foot he said $175-275 per square foot.
That’s what it costs to bring their crew in to build it for you. It obviously costs less with a diy. Plus, nothing worth anything is cheap. ☮️

@@TheKraemerLife The wonderful advantage to the environment and grid is worth the building effort. Go for it after you find your land.
