Guess what? Since the prime minister claims that increasing wage is what is driving up cost, how about he lead by example by reducing his salary first? I mean he is taking about SGD1.6 million per year for his salary, the country is paying him way too much and it is too costly to maintain his salary

So what he's saying is prices have been increasing cause lower income wages has been increasing? So blame the people for needing a decent wage ? One significant factor for higher prices is GST increase ! How despicable to push the blame at the people that are affected the most ! Really shows how they just don't bother to think of policies to help the needy. Hypocrites .

  • @chenghonggoh4746

Last time, gst increase giving the local business a good excuse to increase prices which by the way was more than the gst increase itself. Now thanks to LW, we must expect another round of price increase.

Anyone calculated on how much the government makes from the ERP on a daily basis? There is 12 ERP gantries. So give and take, lets say a car gets charged $4 on average. I am just giving a rough figure here, as there is a different charges according the timing. So, during that period, there is 30,000 cars pass by the gantries. So, there is $1 million and four hundred and forty thousand dollars in a day that the government is making. I have not count the buses, lorries and bikes. So....give and take, the government is making roughly around $60 million a month. I am not good at maths but...imagine that? Just on gantries..

Hopefully 50% OF their gross salary.
Reason is they benefited at local expense.

GST is mainly aim for the lower income, so they can tax the higher income lesser...low income dun need to get tax...but becos of GST ,we need to pay how many time than our actual tax..death or alive ,young or old will need to pay GST...but giving out incentive...only above 21years old can receive...then why the government collect GST from those under the age of 21 years old and also dun pay to the death who family still need to pay for the tomb and praying material every years.

Why the governments attribute cost increases solely to wage hikes rather than addressing other contributing factors like rental, utilities, petrol, and GST. Blue-collar workers, like everyone else, deserve fair compensation that reflects the rising cost of living. Governments may emphasize wage moderation to mitigate inflation, but it's essential for them to consider all aspects affecting affordability. By advocating for fair wages and highlighting the impact of various cost factors, you can help promote a more equitable and sustainable economic environment.
