IMO : Sean Connery - always - has been absolutely “drop dead” gorgeous ! AND - He continues to be so !!!! One of my favorite memories is being in the movie theatre watching “Robin Hood” (with 2 of my 4 children). As we neared the end of said movie (specifically - during the wedding of Robin & Marian) - “out of nowhere” King Richard (played by Sean). He “entourage suddenly just “appear” ! To my further surprise (in this particular scene), the king was shown to quickly dismount, but he - clearly - showed his face (to the theatre audience), & (in Sean’s EASILY recognizable voice). Then he proceeded to stop the wedding ceremony . To my children’s TOTAL embarrassment, they saw & heard their Mother inhale - SO LOUDLY that the entire group of theatre patrons heard my GASP ! They both physically appeared as if they tried to just slide under their seats, wanting “out of sight” ! You see, to my knowledge, I - never once - had EVER even seen Sean’s name in the advertisements regarding this movie ! I was - ABSOLUTELY - UNAWARE that Sean was one of the many fine actors who appeared in this movie. Had I known to expect to see him appear somewhere in this movie, my reaction - surely - would have been more “low key” ! But by me NOT Knowing (about Sean’s appearance n this movie), my children CERTAINLY should have seen that my reaction was TOTALLY understandable to them ! However, they were right to feel that my LOUD gasp was an embarrassment to them !
Connery should have won an award for playing Indiana Jones old man in The Last Crusade too. Hes an incredible actor who for about 40 years has been superb at what he does. Incredible performer!

I’ve seen THE UNTOUCHABLES so many times and I thought the scene that earned him an Oscar was the scene when Jim Malone was giving Elliot Ness the information of where the book keeper is going to be from his dying breath and I cried on the inside when he said his last words “What are you prepared to do.”

Connery really had outstanding competition in this supporting category, but his performance was the highlight of The Untouchables. His work in Lumet's The Hill and Huston's The Man Who Would Be King was also award worthy; of course, his performances in the James Bond films, particularly From Russia With Love and Goldfinger were spectacular.
Look at Morgan Freemans face when Sean is named the winner. He smiles INSTANTLY - no regret, no jealousy, just pure admiration for his colleague. RIP Sean - and Morgan: May you live a long time yet!

I finally found it. Right then Sean probably gave the only completely normal speech in the history of the Oscar-winning galas. No patheticism, no awkwardness, just few words straight from the heart.
All the nominees in this cathegory that year were Oscar-winning performances, but they stood absolutely no chance against Sean's performance in The Untouchables. That performance was simply perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So funny tha 8 years later Cage and Connery would star in one of the best action movie of the 90's - 'The Rock'. He deserved this Oscar too, The Untouchables was a great movie and he gave a great performance.
I met Sean Connery once in a supermarket in Liverpool, he was a lovely guy we chatted for about 5mins and he asked me about the recipe I was carrying with me whilst getting my ingredients. Of course it wasn't THE Sean Connery just a guy with the same name. I don't think he won an Oscar but he now knows how to make my mother's spaghetti carbonara.
Connery was in good company where he sat. Right beside Jack Nicholson with Cesar Romero two rows behind him and the first guy to stand up for the ovation who was all smiles was Burt Lancaster.
For me such a humble lovely man. Best 007 James Bond ever, great dad of Indiana Jones, disciplined cop in THE UNTOUCHABLES, tuff Submarine Commander in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and a well played british/scottish soldier in THE ROCK. Rest in Peace 🙂

This has stopped being true 5 years later, he looks really old now (which he is, of course).
He's still going on all these years later. Still making blockbuster movies, still charismatic as ever, hasn't lost his charm and wit and does 300 push-ups a day on the beach and always eats a crab on his last push-up.

DChief94 i think he kinda is but i am glad that connery turned down LOTR. Don't get me wrong he is one of my favorites but he is no gandalf. Ian mckellen fits so much better in the role than connery would have

So funny tha 8 years later Cage and Connery would star in one of the best action movie of the 90's - 'The Rock'. He deserved this Oscar too, The Untouchables was a great movie and he gave a great performance.

I met Sean Connery once in a supermarket in Liverpool, he was a lovely guy we chatted for about 5mins and he asked me about the recipe I was carrying with me whilst getting my ingredients. Of course it wasn't THE Sean Connery just a guy with the same name. I don't think he won an Oscar but he now knows how to make my mother's spaghetti carbonara.

One of the greatest films of all time with one of the best performances of all time.
Connery did have a lot of enemies in the crowd, believe it or not.
Connery was in good company where he sat. Right beside Jack Nicholson with Cesar Romero two rows behind him and the first guy to stand up for the ovation who was all smiles was Burt Lancaster.
I love when a movie with a great score wins an Oscar and they play the background suite music, like in this case.

For me such a humble lovely man. Best 007 James Bond ever, great dad of Indiana Jones, disciplined cop in THE UNTOUCHABLES, tuff Submarine Commander in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER and a well played british/scottish soldier in THE ROCK. Rest in Peace 🙂
