Great content Dr Webb!!!👍🏾👍🏾 I am a (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician-& Certified Instrument Specialist) WOO!!! that’s a mouth full🤣(CRCST-CIS tech), I am very familiar with all of those instruments it is great to see a doctor explaining the importance of these surgical instruments. As a CRCST tech we are responsible for making sure all these instruments are clean, inspected, sterile & work properly every time and ready for use. Our Sterile Process Dept also work with Vendors because they also have special spine instruments for us to clean & sterile. It’s amazing how the instruments are used & This is why my job is so important, SPD is the Heart of the Hospitals & no surgery will take place without us.Once again great content , love it♥️❤️👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I started watching your videos in undergrad and I’ll be starting my orthopaedic surgery residency in 3 months. Thanks for all you do and I can’t wait to join this awesome profession!!
I remember when I was trying to learn these instruments when I was in my clinicals for surgical tech school. I wish I had this to reference from, because it’s hard to remember the names of these instruments. But now I work with them all the time so it’s always fun to see in a more detailed way in which you use them. I love always learning why we use these instruments in the OR.
Don't forget us Sterile Processing Technicians who ensure that said instruments and other medical devices used in surgeries, are decontaminated, clean and sterile!
Dr Webb, I don't know how you guys overcome looking at opened up patients 😅 if you can make a video taking us back to your med school days and how you "desensitized" to the idea of operating and cutting open, and what made it easier for you, that would b cool
Thank you for taking the time to do this video, Dr. Webb. Finally home from rehab after a second lumbar fusion. Always wanted to see the tools and especially rods/screws. Trying to learn as much as I can! This time BMP protein was used and my own bone marrow was put in a centrifuge. Hoping for the best. VERY painful stuff. Thank you again!
Thank you Dr. Webb, your video is very helpful to me because in a few days start my clinicals in SPD, so it is very important to me to know the names of every surgical instrument.
Very nice, Dr. Webb I’ve always wonder about all the instruments surgeons use for various procedure- I’ve always wanted to be in the OR- as a nurse, but ended up in other areas of the field- but I still enjoy the content. Thank you.
Great content doc! I'm a med student in Brazil and truly appreciate your work! I met your channel before even being accepted into med school and I've been following it ever since
I can't lie that drill sound was of high qualities -- I love a whirring sound of powered tools! I hate how I have the desire to use every tool knowing I'm unauthorized lol. Using utensils as intended are just one of those things that are therapeutic to me. I get lost in the motion or molding of whatever I'm using! It makes Ortho sugery look cooler 😅
Thank you for this helpful video, Dr. Webb. I have a question as a medical coder: would the same tools be used in arthrodesis of all spinal regions cervical/thoracic/lumbar/sacral? I'm mainly wondering about the thoracic/lumbar regions for a particular case. Are the same instruments utilized in both?
Great question. It really depends on what we’re doing. Some of the same tools are used on all regions and other tools are used for certain areas like posterior cervical operations. There are some tools that are specifically designed for anterior cervical procedures and some designed for lateral fusion operations.
Amazing video thank you for taking the time and explaining what all these instruments do. I am a automotive technician and i work with tool on a daily basis, this is very fascinating. But i could even imagine myself being a surgeon. 🤯🍻
Hi Dr. Antonio. I am in the 1st year of my 2-years spine fellowship. I want your recommendation regarding which loupe should I buy as a beginner/trainee spine surgeon. Thanks.
Great vid for your patients; as a surgical NP in hip/knee recon I am always surprised how interested patients are about the tools we use in Ortho. They always point out how similar they are to tools you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot 😂😂😂
Sir My age is 17 & i am patient of osteogenisis imperfecta type 1, i am in good condition , only my right leg have been broke for 10 time, i can walk with braces & lift weight, please suggest me a good medicine thanks .
Hey doc just quick question is there surgery that can correct dish diease of the neck I'm newly diagnosed with it is very painful and have limited movement in my neck thank you for your time I'm very nervous about this can't get any answer
Thank you Doctor. Another good video. Wow some really cool and necessary tools. The rpms were crazy on air tool. A lot of more advanced resemblance to tools used for home. 🥋🤛🤛🤛Cobra Kai
@@antoniowebbmd I sure hope you know I'm a fan but I don't have your smarts. I know your tools serve a serious purpose but there are similar kinda tools for home projects. Have a good one and stay up!!!
@@antoniowebbmd so for spine surgeons it’s kind of like the ortho major is for ortho doctors ? A toolbox ? Love your videos. I have learned a lot from them ! As a sterile processing tech I’m constantly educating myself. And it’s really nice that there is a doctor willing to show people the whys how’s and what’s . I love to sometimes on my days off go watch cases . So I loved your or etiquette video ! Thank you Dr. for all you do!
Dr. I find the money in healthcare appealing but I have a sense of disgust and revulsion when I imagine performing tasks like putting an IV in someone. Is this normal and can this be overcome?
Sir I am an albino and I am studying in class 11 . Soo sir I am preparing for NEET and want to become a doctor. Sir as an albino I have low vision aids and I use magnifying glasses would I be able to be a doctor . Or psychiatrist as I heard that they won't perform surgeries . 🥰🥰🥰 Kindly reply.
Hi 👋 I know all these instruments I’m responsible for cleaning and sterilization of instruments yall surgeons use for surgery. I been in the field of sterile processing tech for 17 years 😀😀😀
So you're the person not putting all the instruments back into the sets that are returned to the medical device company I work for lol. Rongeurs and kerrisons are often missing and are like $500-$700 each depending on quantity bought. That Daveed retractor is probably $2,000 - $3,000.
Another awesome showcase Dr. Webb! this one is particularly cool because it involved tools! I love tools and gadgets as I am a Computer Network Engineer and we have many tools to get the job done as well. I love all things medicine though from a kid up till now!
