Had 2 different adidas I listed at $170 as Amazon had 0 inventory & they were last selling for $180. Within an hour of mine being posted , Amazon has 1 of each all the sudden . I kept playing with the price & watched them follow me up & down . Within 3 days they were selling for $70 and I don’t believe they have inventory either
I don't sell on Amazon but I'm not surprised by this. There could possibly even be some fine print in whatever agreement they make their sellers adhere to. At the end of the day, they're there to make money, not really help YOU make money (which is how Etsy's been operating the past few years by steadily increasing fees). Soooo, if undermining their sellers, and selling similar products for less, or being strategic with their ad placemen, it's not cool but I'm not sure if it's illegal.
I used to sell on amazon (sells nicely by the way) but now I'm building my own online store so I can have more control in my business. Read mr. Chou's book, by the way, which is helping me still :)

probably why ebay is still around
Yeah, it should be legal. It's the exact same thing retail stores do with their off brand products.
No, far from a monopoly.
Does sound like some kind of insider trading.
Illegal
