This is how all of your assignment video’s should be! Nice and relaxed and we get to see what goes on in your creative process. Thanks for taking us along!
Pretty much how I roll at the moment. No plan. Just exploring, experimenting, and getting hours in. So in LOVE with TH-cam right now. Following you and Brendan Van Son more closely lately, but I follow a bunch of different photographers. Been practicing landscapes and wildlife so far. Very interested in expanding my horizons, and I've felt like you and Brendan are teaching what I'm trying to learn at the moment. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. Can't say it enough...and also thank you. Can't say that enough either.
As someone just starting out with professional photography I really appreciate these videos, especially you showing the settings you used and your BTS style. I think it's really useful for people to see your process. Great video! Subscribed!
These are some of my favorite videos. The vlog while you shoot photography gives me an idea as to what to do when trying night photography. Thank you for making these videos, love them!
An all Fuji setup would be AMAZING, the X-H1 I feel is going to catch the eye of a lot of vloggers with its video quality, image stabilization, water resistance, and it is definitely aimed towards vloggers with its LCD screen which can be flipped around for vlogging, highly recommend it Evan
Subscribed. Night time is my favorite time to shoot. I love the peace, quiet, and relative lack of people/traffic. Would be interested in seeing more similar videos of you driving around and shooting in Atlanta. I have not been to Atlanta as an adult, and was extremely surprised at how little traffic there was in the area you were shooting. I have been out in Jersey after midnight, and seen much more traffic than was in the area where you were. Odd that in an area with so little traffic, they charge for street parking..................at night. Up here, in the metro NJ/NYC area, there is ALWAYS traffic. EVERYWHERE. Day and night. No matter the weather or time of year. And, while there are TONS of things to shoot here, due to traffic and location, it is often not easy to access a lot of places. More often than not (especially in urban areas), I have to park a mile or two away and walk back to the location, because you can't get any closer. Keep doing your thing (and show some of your outtakes and shots that you were not happy with). You may be surprised to learn that some shots that you don't like, are very popular with your base.
My guy. The "Ultra-Puff stage" got me ascending. Loved the Benz Stadium shot! Don't worry about the lack of B-roll. I like your basic format so much as is. The cinematic stuff is just an added bonus for me!
So today is the day, that I finished watching all your vlogs and behind the scenes videos. And I have to say that I really like your channel and your way of photography. Since january 2018 I take one day in the week and going outside to make pics of my homecity. And because of you I plan to record this like a vlog and behind the scenes videos like you. Greetings from Berlin, Germany!!! (Sorry for my bad english)
That stadium shot is so dope dude! I'm hooked on all your videos, definitely a big inspiration on me getting out to shoot a lot more recently! Thanks for the content brother!
Great videos Evan. Please consider making a video about the Canon G7X II. Not a tech video but more of a one hour shoot in the city type video using the G7x. I'd love to see what great photos you can capture with it. Again, great videos keep it up.
Evan quick question I live in ATL too. How do you do to don't feel unsafe walking around with ur camera and open tripo? I been trying to do it around Buckhead bout I feel I have to be looking everywhere just in case
Like usualy, great video, you're look really happy on this. That it inspires me to do a night photography session in paris next week. Keep doing these videos
I would like to know a comparison of the Nikon D5600 vs another APSC like the Fujifilm XT-2, and where you found that Nikon lacking. Is it the lack of weather sealing, or limited dial controls? I love fully articulated screens and feel like I have a hard choice between 35mm Canon 6D-MKII vs MFT Panasonics. Crazy sensor difference, when I shoot day (street/architecture) and urban nightlife.
Evan, speaking of Fuji. Do you ever have trouble with editing the Fuji raw files? I have an x70 and sometimes find the raw files just look a little weird in Lightroom. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks for the inspiration.
I’ve driven by that location so many times and have never noticed it spelled “Atlanta”. Ha! I am glad I found your channel - great content. Awesome photos!
I would definitely say that the X-H1 would be a great investment if you want one camera for video and photography. The drawback though is that it is bigger and heavier than the x-pro2 and x-T2, as well as still not having a flip back screen. However it is still smaller than a Nikon D810... be cool to see you using the X-H1 though
Great video, very inspiring, makes me want to get my ass out and shoot. And thanks for the puddle trick, going to be trying to replicate that. You're like the American version of Peter McKinnon haha, keep it up. 👍
hi man i I,am new to your channel and i saw you live in atlanta. I to live in metro atlanta and I was wondering, where do you think is the best place to take amazing photos of the city Is just wondering.
Great video, that long expo shot at 7:24 was awesome, well both shots are. I always shoot my long expos at F11 and ISO100 because I shoot Canon cropped sensor and afraid of introducing noise to my image, but after seeing this shot, I'll try to bump my iso and see what I get at F14 :-)
Being a Nikon shooter that shoots a D8xx as well, my backup camera on the Nikons is a D6xx. I just can't give up the 36 MP. Everyone says you don't need it. All of those people either have never had it or seriously shoot stuff where you don't need it like weddings etc. I shoot architecture, product, documentary and landscape. Architecture, product, and landscape all very much benefit from the megapixels. If I had the cash, I would shoot it all on Phase1 medium format but alas, those are out of reach. Documentary of course doesn't need it just like weddings. I will say, with the D6xx there have been times when I got a shot but the crop to clarify ended up making the shot unusable. With the D8xx, that wouldn't have happened. My other major rig which is the Olympus OMD EM1 MKII with the Olympus Pen-F as a backup are phenomenal shooters that I use for all or most of my travel work. I love them. I hate 20 Megapixels and the noise floor you get on crop sensors, especially ones as small as micro 4/3 but I do love shooting with them and the results I get when I am careful. I am using my OMD as a vlogging cam as well and it is phenomenal for that. The Fuji's I understand are only 1 stop better on the noise floor and the dynamic range is similar. I'd worry going from a Nikon D8xx to a Fuji for my work. You can make it work as everyone says, but, you end up having to be hella more careful. Just my 2c.
great video again. You think Atlanta is dead? Ha! Try a small Oregon Coastal town with a population of 16,300. The streets roll up at night. I have sat there wating for 45 minutes for a car, only for it to turn before it passed me. Oh yeah, and I would kill for a neon sign.
Always loving your content Evan! ATL has been cloudy for the past WEEK! Are you enjoying the cloudy ATL or are you ready for the SUNNY ATL? I just started doing photography everyday when I have time. So when I consider myself doing well with Canon I'll see what other cameras out there would be good for my content! Great video as always dude!
Like how you left the photos up for longer, even though you only got a couple good shots I would still love to see the ones that weren't quite as good!
the xh1 is gonna be pretty good for video. and stills. its gonna be an all around sick camera. would be an awesome setup. also fuji lenses are relatively cheap
Yeah having a smaller video camera would allow me to capture more stuff for these blogs so I’m leaning towards it! And you’re right the lens selection and value is hard to beat
dope vid as always. i am a canon guy myself although not aa good as you still consider myself a busy amature i will say that i have been hearing sick things about the new fuji. keep up the good work and...yea get a hair cut lol jk man
Ugh. Was writing a comment and the vid switched. Jelly of the architecture there and warm weather. I'll come to Atlanta and we'll go out on urban shoots! LOL I know my shots would have been a bit diff from yours.
Since I bought XT2 a year ago, I was able to shoot great videos with it, even a few weddings, without any issue. Now, XH1 should be even better in that regard. Will I switch? Yes and no. I could add that one in somewhere down the line. XT2 will never leave me unless irreparable broken. Moreover, If price of it drops significantly after XH1 and XT3 hit the market, I'll add another one to my collection. If picture / video quality works for you, you can't go wrong with Fuji. Just add more lenses and don't be afraid to fill the lens gaps with vintage lenses, since Fuji system is one of the best ones for adopting old glass...
I'm saving up for the Fujifilm XT2 since i currently have a Sony A6300. I just love the colors Fuji's produce and trying to find a XT2 at a good price. Do you have any recommendations on where to look because the best option I've found is on Amazon since it includes the lense and camera body for around $1,300.
And that Amazon offer is a damn good deal since in my (European) country XT2 body only still costs around $1900 !!! Converted to dollar of course. At least we always have some pieces available, what's not always the case in some other countries. Just be sure that's not a refurbished one, since it still costs around $1600 at B&H. Average price in Europe is around EUR 1300 (around $1600). Not to mention that's almost impossible to find a used one, at least in this part of the world. And I doubt you'll find a better deal right now since all Fujifilm factories in Japan, China and Philippines can barely meet all the demand. If your budget is tight, and if you are not in the hurry, my advice would be to be patient. Course when XH1 and XT3 later this or at the beginning of next year hit the market the price of XT2 will drop. How significantly remains to be seen. And of course if you can skip some features like weather sealing, there's still XT20 and XE3. Picture quality out of this cameras is absolutely the same, while video quality is a bit worse (40 mbps in 4K compared to 150 mbps in 4K on the XT2). I use my XT2 professionally, but if you don't those cameras are absolutely worth considering. Hope this helps...
Your videos just inspire me to get out and shoot. Thank you Evan.
Arcty everytime I see them I think what am I doing inside??
That reflection photo was a BANGER!!!
This is how all of your assignment video’s should be! Nice and relaxed and we get to see what goes on in your creative process. Thanks for taking us along!

THAT COP YESSSS Hahahahah great snaps!
I love night photography. Makes me think about my surroundings differently with such a lack of natural light. Another great video :)
That first photo you took of the stadium when the cop went by is amazing!!
Amazing composition beautiful lighting love the sharpness and architecture perspective very powerful and moving
Bro you gonna jinx yourself with the parking tickets hahah
Great vid! Your night shots came out great! That puddle shot was gorgeous and I really liked the lines on the second one. Nice work!
Small change, but I like that you put the photos up for longer in this video!
San Antonio (where I’m from) reminds me of Atlanta so much...there’s so many people but it’s so huge it always seems dead lol
lovin' these bts videos Evan! Oh and that puddle-mercedes-photo looks goooooodygoodygoood :P
Subscribed.

Love these videos watching someone figuring out the shot on site. Great one.
My guy. The "Ultra-Puff stage" got me ascending. Loved the Benz Stadium shot! Don't worry about the lack of B-roll. I like your basic format so much as is. The cinematic stuff is just an added bonus for me!
Good looks 💯 happy to hear you liked the video! I’m really liking the stadium shot too the more I’m looking at it!
This is awesome Evan! Atlanta is my kind of place maybe because am boring haha. I love your photos!
Solid photos dude! love your vlogging style, success or not is always inspiring to see you try. Keep it up!
Thanks for helping us just getting started.👍👍👍 Keed it up my boi...
Lovely work my friend love your pictures
Keep on creating this kind of videos! It's very inspiring to go out and shoot!
"ooh, we got a puddle though..." Yeah, that's me, every time I see a puddle.
So today is the day, that I finished watching all your vlogs and behind the scenes videos.

I been trying to do it around Buckhead bout I feel I have to be looking everywhere just in case
Great stuff! I will be in Atlanta in June for work. I would love to get out in the evenings and shoot some. Such a cool city!!
Like usualy, great video, you're look really happy on this. That it inspires me to do a night photography session in paris next week. Keep doing these videos
That was really dope of the cop to help you out with the photo haha
awesome video man! Always appreciate the behind the scenes. Just as a side note, that Atlanta sign/building looks tight!
I would like to know a comparison of the Nikon D5600 vs another APSC like the Fujifilm XT-2, and where you found that Nikon lacking. Is it the lack of weather sealing, or limited dial controls? Great shots as always man!! Love these videos
Motivation brother, makes me want to get up now and go out and take some pics here in Tampa Florida.
Those were some great photos. They were very inspiring. Question... When you shoot at night what setting on your camera do you use?
Subtle flex with the 180s in the background lol
Mariusz Evan got them yezzy boosts on the shelf too
Yea but they've been there forever, 180s are new :P

I just knew that guy in the truck was going to swerve over and splash that puddle on you. Glad he didn't. Great video.
Alright....convinced. Nice videos. Sub'ed!
Debating on getting the x pro2 or xh1 or both!!Any suggestions?

How about Sony cameras ? I have a sony a7 with Sigma art 35 and it's a beast. Super sharp pics
great video again. You think Atlanta is dead? Ha! Try a small Oregon Coastal town with a population of 16,300. The streets roll up at night. I have sat there wating for 45 minutes for a car, only for it to turn before it passed me. Oh yeah, and I would kill for a neon sign.
Great video! Go Pro Mode ✋🏾
those shot are immense! great work
Thank you!!
You videos gets me hyped to shoot
Great video, great results!
How about the x100F? Do you still have it? Can't remember the last time you used it in your videos. Great Video! Keep up!
Buddy since i found your channel i really love the work u do .. and thank u for making such a intresting video .. Ur hair 😀
Appreciate the video man, great work!
your content is fire bro thanks
Dude I love these videos
I do not have a Fuji, yet they are durable ,and have in body stabilization, like Olympus,Sony, and Pentax,so you might love using them.
i Love your videos!!! thx
Great Video Evan looking forward to seeing you around the ATL! #the50yroldman
I am still rocking with the Sony A7S.
As usual dope video.
Get the VANGUARD tripod. It’s a cheaper option. It can do the same thing as the Manfrotto. I own one so I know ;)
That shot of MBS was sick!
Love the video. How much did you charge for it as just an image? And FYI Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird
Yo i know I say I love cloudy weather for photography... but I need some sun!!
I noticed you were using an aperture of 22, since you had a 1.4 lense, why wouldnt you want a fully open aperture?
I guess a solid question, for night photography, wouldn't full frame be more ideal?
Nice one mate!
4:17 LOL LAUGHED SO HARD
I went out last night and got some really dope long exposures
Like how you left the photos up for longer, even though you only got a couple good shots I would still love to see the ones that weren't quite as good!
I wish it wasn't sunday night now....I would've gone out!
the xh1 is gonna be pretty good for video. and stills. its gonna be an all around sick camera. would
be an awesome setup. also fuji lenses are relatively cheap
Yeah having a smaller video camera would allow me to capture more stuff for these blogs so I’m leaning towards it! And you’re right the lens selection and value is hard to beat
Evan Ranft i have an xpro2 aswell and the 35 1.4, 56, and 16. i think the 16-55 f2.8 would be good as a vlog lens
you know what drives me nuts? All of the power cables in this city!
Dope shots. I gotta go out and do a night shoot too.
dope vid as always. i am a canon guy myself although not aa good as you still consider myself a busy amature i will say that i have been hearing sick things about the new fuji. keep up the good work and...yea get a hair cut lol jk man
My guy, you make me want to move to Atlanta
which go pro did you use?
Ugh. Was writing a comment and the vid switched. Jelly of the architecture there and warm weather. I'll come to Atlanta and we'll go out on urban shoots! LOL I know my shots would have been a bit diff from yours.
Oh and you should add photos somewhere online to see in full. Like Flickr or 500px or something like that.
what tripod do you use?
that image at 4:30 is so goddamn dope
