Such a gem of a song/tune....seemingly simple.....yet so gorgeous.......so often that's the recipe......just more McCartney genius. Thanks for sharing....probably take me a year to get down....but will try.....one of my all time favorites.
Macca done a unplugged version of this in the 90's with Hamish from the ave white band when he was part of his band .. quite a good version and a few other songs also .. cheers from Glasgow Scotland
Off the wall question: Does anyone else remember that the album was displayed in record stores with the back cover as the front cover? To this day I think of this album as the one with McCartney and baby Heather in his coat, not the spilled cherries actual cover
Thanks as always for the ease/natural explanations with which you teach. Lots of fun stuff on McCartney! I quite enjoy ‘Oo You’ and ‘That Would Be Something’ as well.
Love it! Clever lyrics and gorgeous melody. I like using my finger for strumming. It takes a little getting used to, but it's rewarding once you get the hang of it.
The chord in the unfamiliar voicing would be like if you took the C#7 with the C# on the E string, R,5,7,3,5,1 (regular maj bar chord w/the 5th dropped to the 7th) and played it on the A string with the 3 in the bass on the 4 middle strings 3,7,1,5. Chuck Wayne was my teachers teacher and he taught the nifty criss cross chords. Thats four note chords on each of the three sets of consectutive 4 strings on a six string guitar. You could go in a cross from the middle four either left up right up or left or right down! So that would be the exact same chord instead played from the a string
Thanks for this lesson! Cool chords- I think Paul tried to have The Beatles record this (it’s on Anthology 3) but I think it didn’t pass the band test. Glad Paul recorded it on his own.
Great tutorial as always, thanks! I noticed the scar on the left forearm and let me guess: burn from the oven? If so, I’ve been there! Thanks again, big fan!
Thanks for putting in the the time to put this great song together for all of us. Could you tell me what model of Martin you're playing please. It sounds amazing. The mother of pearl inlays are gorgeous too. Thanks
Yes, The Beatles demo'd a load of songs at George's home in Esher when they got back from India, and Junk was one of them, so it was probably written out there.
Superb!!!!! What gauge strings do you use?? i am to this day trying to find out what gauge strings McCartney used on his acoustic guitar and no joy yet.
I spent a lot of time with this, and I am impressed. However, at the 7:00 mark, you neglect the A-B-C# bass notes that are included in the acoustic guitar part that must be grasped by three fingers to get the chords in an "orchestral" fashion. Your version is an over-simplification of the original that Paul created. I also spent hours on the ending, and what I hear here is not accurate. James Taylor does the same thing in many of his songs.
I always enjoy fingerstyle acoustic... and McCartney knows how to write them...and you know how to teach it...Thanks

I love this tune. It's such a gem, that I feel gets lost because of the volume of work Paul has. Thanks for sharing your insights on it.
Thanks again James. I really love this song.
Barry - from (among others) Acton? Still playing? OMG
Gorgeous indeed! What a gift for melody he has.

That version of And I Love Her was also stellar.

Under rated album; good guitar songs, plain and simple
Off the wall question: Does anyone else remember that the album was displayed in record stores with the back cover as the front cover? To this day I think of this album as the one with McCartney and baby Heather in his coat, not the spilled cherries actual cover
It's baby Mary tucked inside his fur-lined leather jacket, not Heather
@@sylvainpaquette6485 right you are
I always assumed the cherries was back cover

Good show!!
Wonderful. Beatle harmonies on this would have been wild too.
Nice work figuring that out. Great song.
Sounds so simple, less is more , thanks for this.

Thanks, Jimmy James!

That's a D41.
thank you so much!!

I think that 2nd chord is a C#7 [E# B C# G#]
Thx!
I think with different lyrics this could have ended up on the white album. Does anybody know if this was written in India? Awesome little tune.

Donovan showed Paul and John the thumb and first finger shaped way and each o f them wrote a song in that fashion after.. I know you know which songs.

Those are probably 13’s.
