    This song's composition is originally a Turkish folkloric song from the town of Domaniç in the province of Kütahya, Interior Aegean Region of Turkey. Person of source is the late İhsan Kaplayan from the same region.
    It was first compiled and documented in 1937. There is a controversial history about the background of the song involving the Marshall Aid Program of the USA for TR and GR in 1948-51. What I actually wonder is this... (please keep reading...)

    • @excelgazialimuhiddinhacibekir
      @excelgazialimuhiddinhacibekir 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the Turkish Sour Times website Eksisozluk.com, one user wrote in his or her entry that the Greek version under the title of "Giati Thes Na Figeis" was first written by Kostas Virvos and composed by Stratos Attalidis in 1961. It was sung first by Panagiota Lydia.
      First of all: Is this discographical information about the song correct? If yes, it proves that this song was actually adapted from the Turkish Folkloric Music repertoir.
      Second: Didn't this song already exist in the Greek Folkloric Music repertoir before 1961?
      I was suspecting that the song migrated with the Greek refugees of Asia Minor from TR to GR following the population exchange of 1923-25.

    @JimmyTheGreek2000 Ah, good old 'Mother India'. A Greek classic:) It blew me way when I saw it in a Greek movie theatre in Melbourne in late sixties I think. So most of the Greek 'borrowings' can be traced back to that movie. Thanks very much for the info.

  • @loveglobalmusic
    @loveglobalmusic 13 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @JimmyTheGreek2000 does it matter ? its a nice song , it's just not necesarry draging politics into music. And we dont claim that "ALL" songs are our songs, both sides has borrowed songs from eachother, we have some of yours, you have some of ours.Thats the way it has been. It could be so much better, so nice if there was some friendship between these neighbours. Peace!

    These song,s belong to both Greeks and Turks because they touch both our hearts similarly can we all just stop the this is mine that is yours argument i see too much of this silliness coming from our lot and its so childish. The honest truth is that these songs would never have seen the light of day had both Greeks and Turks not lived together and took a little from one another musically its all good just enjoy.

    You need to watch the film 'Mother India' where you will find all the Indian songs.
    There is a Greek version for most of them. The Greek lyrics by Apostolos Kaldaras are nearly the same with minor variations. So as I said before these songs are not Turkish or Greek.

    I would like to inform you that this is NOT a Greek song !!!!
    It is a song from India ....... No joke! .... this is true!

    • @vengovoy4606

      It belongs to the domaniç region where the Ottoman state was established. It s an anonymous folk song greek or turkish but definitely not indian. there was no camera in india when this folk song compiled in turkey :) Referring to a 1957 indian movie, you get into a funny situation.
