I knew he was going to be a villain because Tasha slipped a unit by to attack him. On his turn he got to attack back so I heard more of the song. Knew immediately that this guy is a future boss.

You ever notice how that first mission of saving Waylon involves him taking only 3 seconds to end his turn....? And then....when you fight him for real....the DAMN GUITAR RIFFS KICK IN. IT'S ON NOW, BOY!
It really suits his personality and how you interact with the New Laurentian/Rubinelle Army. You start off allying with them against the Zephyrian/Lazurians after being convinced by Sigismundo/Greyfield. And while you're allies with them, you have to protect him. It's here where his goofy and laid back personality takes place, but it drops hints that he's a selfish jerk who isn't to be trusted. Once it becomes clear that Sigismundo is a madman and needs to be stopped, Finn/Waylon takes the most selfish course of action and fights you, because he only cares about himself. Then the theme kicks in, and it becomes darker and more sinister, much like him. The goofy facade is gone, and a serious threat has taken its place.
I love all the themes in the advance wars series, sure they are short, but what makes them special is the fact that they just shout personality all over them!
