Since the DNA matched Misa, he figured Misa was the Second Kira and brought her in. So Light's real mistake was not destroying the evidence, but allowing Misa near him after he found out she was the Second Kira, because L basically used Light as bait to try and find his DNA matches.
exactly as Omega says, + getting the DNA from her apartment is not a police operation, but an L thing. He isn't really interested in laws, he just wants to solve the case. So breaking in some homes, is no problem for him.

I like how the show makes you have to figure out the connection between Light-Mogi-Misa-Kiyomi instead of just explicitly telling you it. Most other situations in this show have a character narrate what just happened, presumably to hold the audience's hand

However, shortly after L asked Mogi to tail Light, at that point he discovered Light was dating both Misa and Takada (the lady he was walking with before encountering L in campus) ... that is how they connected Misa to Light, and after investigating her, the physical evidence from the tapes matched what was found in Misa's room... one of the investigators did see light with misa when she randomly popped up before and the guy was like "another girl" so they knew but didnt know her at the time but i feel like there was alot of off screen time to investigate her then?

There are a couple of "plot" moments for both sides and this one is a very big for Light. The fact that L caught Misa and didn't immediately arrested Light as well is a very convenient way of not solving the case and giving Light time to receive the threat from Rem and come up with a plan. And even if we can say they wouldn't have a base for arresting him, letting him go without anybody trailing him or even straight up bringing him to the HQ is just a way for him to be alone to talk to Rem.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who questioned this 😭 L quickly names Light the prime suspect upon arresting Misa- yeah they might not have the evidence they need in order to arrest him, but they would have grounds to immediately bring him in for interrogation, or at the very least, confine him to HQ. But nooo, they let him go and gave him all the time in the world in order to come up with a plan to save Misa and evade suspicion. Pretty convenient if you ask me and it becomes even more dumb when you consider the world’s greatest detective is meant to be leading this investigation 😬

ya know what irritates me so much about the whole copyright thing? these sorts of videos are literally free advertising for them! the majority of people watching this have already watched death note and want to see 2 of their favourite youtubers opinions on the show also, at least thats what i think!?Therefore anyone who hasn't seen deathnote but sees this video would want to watch the series themselves, right?
Rem was there and she Saw L's name, but killing L in this moment would not help Misa, It would even be worse, it's like telling everyone that she is the Second Kira or that she has some connection with Kira. It would be a confession that she is guilty and she'd never be able to be free of that situation.

Rem must have seen L's name but a shinigami is not allowed to give out a name to human. Ryuk cleared that in 3rd episode I think
