Thanks a lot. That’s actually why I started making videos. I was tired of watching one’s that don’t really tell you much and I figured others may feel that way too.
I've been looking for an easy way to make up the glow bug. You made it easy. Thanks I'm headed to Yosemite next week to try one out. If I do good I'll post the video. Thx Again you rock!
Fish Finder, thanks a lot!! I use them mostly for steelhead or salmon. I like the mint green with blue dot for PA steel and a cheese orange for MI salmon. Get a lot of baby steelies and Browns on them by accident. Good luck, I hope they work well for you.
Hi Enjoyed your video on egg tying. Good tip on keeping the bite gap free, plus the pen tip is really useful. I'm going to try this very soon. Tight lines Dave
Thanks a lot! I started making videos because so many don’t really explain anything useful about how to actually tie. Glad you found it helpful! Feel free to share it!!
I actually found a tool at a craft store that I can use just like the pen. One end is open wide and tapers to the front. It also has a hook for pulling the material through the tool...
@@pauldavidbinkley I’ll let you know. I’m going salmon fishing in Sept. in Michigan. A deep fast river. I’m hoping they get down fast, behind a weighted streamer.
Nice. I’ll be on the PM, the Betsie and the Platt the last weekend of Sept into Oct. maybe I’ll try the same. Though I usually just fish black egg sucking leach for Kings as they seem to really whack black streamers every year, and when I fish eggs I tend to catch baby steelhead and resident browns. But when the going gets tough I def switch to an egg patter and you’re right the rivers up there have a good flow to them, hard to get down in such a short deep drift. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hahaaa!! Yup. Done that a few times. Not easy to get exact amount of yarn that goes through the pen easily enough but is not so little that the eggs don’t hold their shape. I have since switched to using this braided beading wire from the craft store to pull the yarn. It doesn’t break. Same stuff as fly fishing pike leader material.
Jane Friend thanks for listening. The amount of talking is very deliberate. You can watch a thousand one minute videos that tell you nothing. My niche is to inform the listener. Plenty of people would love to have someone explain why a certain strategy is desirable, and not just watch speed- glory vids of great tiers wanting to make others feel inadequate or in experienced. Please don’t watch any other of my videos if you are a fan of speed tying.
Nice job on the egg fly pattern. I appreciate you explaining why you do certain steps instead of just ripping through it.

Just made your tool and I love it. I hate to waste material, expensive or otherwise. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
Super glad it’s working for you! And I too love the very little waste. Hate it when my scrap bin is more full than my fly box!

Thanks, great diy.
Great tip! I owe you a Kailua & cream. Cheers 🥂
Outstanding! Thank you!
Great video! Do you ever add a bead to your egg pattern.
I have video on making fly with just a bead but have not tried adding a plastic or metal bead to a tied egg. Does it work?

This is how I broke my thread starter.

Effective, but way to much talking for a simple egg tutorial.
