Football is shockingly formulaic now
Can we please play with the hand brake off.....
Rinky jinky Peter Barnes. Great player. Brings back so many memories of me and my grandad who was a massive city fan. Thanks Peter.
Great privilege to see Alan and all these ex pros especially the ex Chelsea boys . Cheers Tony 🍻
Glad you enjoyed it
Lovely to see these old pros who we grew up watching again they talk so much sense.
It's great to see the latest Huddy podcast in my feed. The podcast says all the things that the fans are thinking 👍 ❤
The magical days of football 🤍 Them days are gone, but never forgotten for us who grew up with these entertainers ⚽️👍
Thanks for watching !
Loved watching Peter play.
Great pod this with the top player Alan Hudson. Lovley to see top player Peter Barnes as guest. A bit short episode this time, but I always enjoy it, just as I did watching these entertainers on the football field ⚽️🤍👍
Thanks for the kind words
Thanks. Really enjoyed this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks boys for wit and wisdom.
So true regarding RTE.
RTE football coverage is excellent.
It's measured and objective minus
the near hysteria of the BBC and the like.
Quite right about the BBC coverage. They made the England games sound like classics whereas in reality its been a borefest.
Commentary from a winger who loved to dribble
Great sense from Peter.
Southgate has got England to another Final. I watched Barnes play for Leeds. He was nothing short of abysmal.
"Give me lucky generals, not good ones" - Napoleon.
The comment about all 70s teams having flare players… it isn’t encouraged now. A Frank Worthington wouldn’t get a game, be penalized. It is one touch pass the ball into the net… if you can. The only way a Rooney, Best, Gasgoine will come through now is if they are 15 and inot polluted, a natural. Then still they would need a manager like Clough to understand how to play them, attacking the opposition left right and Centre.
England in final, does anything else need to be said except now win it
What did he win with England?
The whole world could pick a better line up but it his inability to sort the team out
when things aren't going right . I reckon the ghost of Revie is running the team
Saka overrated ,, Declan rice sideways and backwards,, harry kane should sit this game out
I agree. Saka is good but he's over hyped. Doesn't get to the line enough.
Rose-tinted glasses :) Barnes and Hudson talk about the entertainment of the 70s based on scoring goals - the average number of goals scored in the premiership last season is significantly higher than it was in the 70s. The league champions in 1976, Liverpool and Barnes's Man City scored just over 60 goals in 42 games.
They were better goals though.
Todays footballers are drilled robots super fit but bang average...Its in decline via greed and too much hype and money
What a negative lot you are, clearly you got further in competitions when you were playing. Come on England
The England team of the 70's were just like Southgate's team. Ray Wilkins was famous for constantly passing the ball sideways and backwards.
In those days a keeper could pick up the ball from a pass back too! What a bore-fest it was. The difference is that now at least we win a few matches.
Wilkins was playing for England more in the 80s
