If it's still not working, go to task manager and end task for steam, go to steam, right click, open file location, right click on steam application in the window that opens , click "troubleshoot compatibility" and then "try recommended settings" and keep the settings, then run dbd through the steam application. ok in 2022 this didn't work for my gf's new PC, first time getting DBD to load on her pc. But after watching this vid, IT WORKED. I followed a bunch of solutions on the DBD threads including total delete/fresh install, deleting all other files except steam so it properly reinstalls files, and running as admin. But this specific order idk for whatever reason WORKS. 1. Exit steam in Task manager; now here's where you follow the video- 2. Search for Steam in the windows and right click > run as admin; 3. Once Steam is opened, go to Library and run DBD normally. (Weird that I tried this before but once I got into Steam, I also ran the Deadbydaylight exe file as admin and it didn't work?); 4. I shift tabbed once the intro movie came on and shift tabbed out to exit the overlay. Works!!! not sure if step 4 was required in fixing this, but I read about opening steam overlay in some other thread lol. Anyways thanks again for the vid :-) good luck to everyone trying to play this fun af but buggy game
