For a professional, I give you a thumbs up for putting metal barriers into the ground, you don't know, the ground automatically becomes contaminated with rust that begins to be released into the ground, the best material is copper which revives the ground, well the old knowledge is forgotten, this also applies to the use metal or plastic tools, mine are all copper or copper plated.
Greetings from Ireland, Great area and a lovely space. We have a small front garden with four flower beds and fifty eight pots. My wife has no interest in gardening and has told me It looks like a mini garden centre. We have a glasshouse and a no dig veg bed at the bottom of the back garden. There is space out the back for a new flower garden and I might create a mini tropical garden.
Another interesting and informative video, Craig. I am in the process of collecting plants and pots to do a similar size space on my deck. I have a windmill palm potted up, and was surprised you said it was your first palm? I also have an albutilon that is a new plant for me. I thought I would pinch it back occasionally to keep it bushy, but after seeing how you are growing yours, I am reconsidering. The flowers would probably be more spectacular if closer to eye level. I really enjoyed your tour of what you have available and your thoughts for how you might use them. Thanks so much!
Thanks Craig. I'll look forward to following this as my garden is all pots on hard surface. It is always a mess right up to June July time as I always have more plants than room and am an addict! ( then somebody mentioning no names turned me on to propagating so I have all those to contend with too haha! Then it is the whole russian doll scenario every year potting smaller in to larger. It totally looks like a building site and I never really get round to 'dressing' it properly until like July haha! I do enjoy the fun of setting up the theatre of it all when they are slightly larger and I can just sit and enjoy the late summer growth!
Would a few tall lillys work well in a tropical border? The lilly trees grown from bulbs look great when gaining height then the flowers look like it's from some far away land
Fantastic video Craig! A lovely garden and I look forward to watching the transformation! Great to meet another keen and local exotic plant collector! A fabulous collection of plants! 😁 Mal
Like you ive got a small space and its dense clay so been a journey the last few years. Dont have a dog but got small kids fighting for lawn space. 😂. Love watching your videos for plant inspiration. I too have raided a few skips for some garden worthy upcycling! Have you found an ideal soil mix for pots in general?

Great project! In early part of video you mentioned a garden on TH-cam you like. Would you mind sharing the channel name I could not figure it out while you were talking thanks

Yes, the old ways were the best, we didn’t contaminate the soil or use plastic.
I think it’s going to look really lush and a good place to have a coffee or tea

Sounds great! Tropical gardens are so rewarding, especially in the warm summer months 😀
Good luck with the new space Craig. Ideas are excellent as always. Plenty of planting options for the space 👍
Thank Craig for showing us around your garden.
I have a courtyard Garden that I have crammed full of all sorts of plants!
I think sometimes a small space packed full of plants looking better than a big open space 👌🌴

Would love to see your future gate. ❤
A green roof or raised bed on the tool shed ?
Great suggestion, it would be perfect for succulents 👍
I like the green roof idea.
My Woodwardia Radicans really didn't like the winter. But I'm happy to report it's slowly bouncing back.
Yes, the will get frosted back but do mostly recover 😀

Thanks for sharing, it definitely is a journey 😀 For me I have great success with Sylvagrow multipurpose, it’s not the cheapest but it works 👍
