Drew, FYI: Clouds have no effect on Fox 2 missiles. So it is to your advantage to use said clouds to hide the smoke trails from your target. Especially concerning the Russian missile inventory in DCS.

Love it. I remember getting into DCS with a XBox One controller. Good gear helps, but you can be proficient with inexpensive gear too.

1. Losing a DCS PvP fight to a dude using a sim racing steering wheel

The most cursed thing about the video is the control surfaces being reversed in the intro.
your don't need a HOTAS to win ACM/BVR engagements when you got family.
Need a NASCAR paint scheme for your bird while playing with the wheel!
As u said with practice u can fly with anything, I fly with a partial broken joystick named Saitek ST200, with the broken throttle, just 4 buttons, 2 for accelerate (that is a bit broken sometimes it doesnt react) and decelerate, and the other 2 for shooting guns, missiles and bombs, the rest with mouse and keyboard including camera, rudder, etc. I've been like this over 5 years and with enough practice I started to fly pretty well.

@@rubyr1314 the t1600 is fantastic and you can sometimes find them on sale for like 50 usd and rn im using a generic 3d printed head tracker i found on amazon for like 25 usd with a ps3 eye camera i got when i used to have a track hat clip

I don't have a flight stick, but I have that wheel set... interesting to know I can play the game with it if I'm dedicated enough
It seems really intuitive, actually. Like, the shifting pedals on the back are perfect for pitching the aircraft and the wheel is meant for rolling so it shouldn't be that hard and actually enjoyable.
Its definitely doable, I helped a buddy in the same situation set up his wheel for FSX once.

*PS. You could try to use the steering wheel WITH your Joystick. You would also be the first to use a HOWAS Setup

You should try playing The Long Dark. It's a story based survival game set in the Canadian north during winter. You have to deal with different kinds of dangerous wildlife, such as wolves and bears, with each creature requiring a different strategy to fight or scare away. Its similar to Tarkov in the way that every piece of equipment you find is important and what gear you use could determine whether you live or die. There are some things that require a certain weapon to defeat, and there are other things that are only scared away by a specific item. You took the revolver instead of the hunting rifle to save weight? Well, you were carrying more food when you ran into a bear, but it ate you because you couldn't kill it. I think you would like the game, and the content would stand out because there aren't many channels recording it.

To be fair DCS has the most comprehensive key binding and control settings of any game and ARMA 3 has one of the worst (for aircraft)

This reminds me of those old timey yoke sticks? on the DC3 for example. They have a steering wheel for rolls, forward/backward push/pulls of the wheel for pitch, and pedals for yaw. That'd be an interesting alternative to dual stick setups
