I listen to a ton of video game soundtracks while I'm working and this is ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD. Usually there's a lot of duds on the playlists, but this was a really solid selection of top notch music, with emphasis on great melodies. I guess I lock in with your innate sense of what makes a song great. Some great tracks I'd never heard before. Thanks for breathing new life into these forgotten gems.
I'm 32 and hearing the Chrono Trigger music I was transported back to the 90's in my childhood. I loved that game. Damn it, come back 90's :( CT, DKC, ughhh, getting older sucks.
Yeah the older we get the less time we have to play.... I installed an emulator on my phone so i can play nes, snes, sega genesis ,psx and gba when i have some free time.
Anytime I hear any game music from Dave Wise, I know that the song is automatically going to rock my face off. That man can do no wrong when composing game music.
Honorable mentions: Aladdin, Contra III, Final Fight, Gradius III, Harvest Moon, Killer Instinct, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, The Lion King, The Lost Vikings, Ogre Battle, Out of This World, R-Type III, Rock n' Roll Racing, Shadowrun, SimCity, Super Punch-Out!!, Super Soccer, Super Tennis, the Super Star Wars Trilogy, Tetris & Dr. Mario, U.N. Squadron and Zombies Ate My Neighbors.
This collection really brings together the sound of the SNES, with all of these different games, one after the other, I'm really taken back to that era. The feeling of nostalgia here is stronger than it would be if I listened to each game soundtrack on their own, it's really quite incredible... And the moment Aquatic Ambience starts up, oh god, my heart just aches with nostalgia and bittersweet memories.
Whoa. It was rather fun picking out what songs to put on here, but deciding which ones you'd want to listen to multiple times and ones that felt appropriate for this wasn't that easy of a task though. Also, I'm pretty sure there aren't a lot of SNES soudntracks where you can assuredly say that each and every single song in them is great, with exceptions such as Chrono Trigger. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Michael "BMO with a Mario hat" Peterson.
Not even close. The NES is far and away the best and most important console ever made. The Genesis is number two. The SNES came out two years after the Genesis. Also, the audio always sounded compressed coming from the SNES sound chip. Both the Genesis and Nintendo sounded better than the SNES imo.
Nah man 8 bit age holds back the NES big time it's one of the most important sure but not best and the best sound the genesis ever had only compares to the top half of best SNES music due to its scratchy synthesis sound chip
@@devilzdandruff9199 NES was good but SNES was awesome. Games could be so much more complex with the added buttons. Graphics were way better without being too modern.
SNES is best imo It has so many good games I can’t even name them all Ex: Street Fighter 2 Turbo Doom (even though graphics weren’t the best) Super Mario World F-Zero(personal #2 Favorite) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (personal #1 favorite) Super Noah’s Ark 3D (Just Kidding That One Was Awful) Super Metroid And So much more It’s just a very amazing console and will always hold a special place in my heart
Even though I am only familiar with a handful of these, playing this video through reminds me of why the SNES is so legendary. I'm only halfway through and there's not a single track that isn't amazing. Makes me want to get all of these games!
If there's any SNES song (or ANY song for that matter) that best represents my childhood, it's Terra's theme from FFVI. It's the song heard most throughout the game (other than battle music), and the game I have played the most in my life, ever.
Just wanted to say this got me through highschool what a bad time for me the first half was this helped make each day a little more bearable when we could listen to music in class
Excellent list. I was pleased to hear a lot of tunes that you normally wouldn't expect to. A lot of really good songs without pandering too much to the obligatory soundtracks.
1:02:27 - Lethal Weapon - Mission 4 - 25 лет назад поиграл несколько раз в эту игру, но именно эта музыка звучала у меня в голове всё это время! 25 years ago I played this game several times, but it was this music that was playing in my head all this time!
Im really happy I was born in the 80s so I could live through the NES to where we are now. So many great games from the old times and fun to see how everything has become. Still, a lot of the old games are golden even today. Though I'll probably miss the good part with really good VR :'(

Listening to this in the build up for the SNES Classic Mini, not that many of these games are going to be on the Mini anyway! Also Super Turrican 2 - Wormland' - what a tune!!
I always wanted to play _Ladystalker,_ (since I still greatly enjoy _Landstalker_ on the mighty Sega Genesis,) but, holy smokes, I never would've guessed it beheld such an epically blazing guitar track such as that of Fighting Dancer!!1! _Radical Dreamers,_ Day of Summer, is no slouch either.

Very nice, thanks for the beginning song of castlevania, its from the 6ht stage i believe, i think that is very well done but most of people forgot...nice video very good memories

Some incredible tracks here. So many memories. And "Terra's Theme" has to be one of the greatest pieces ever made for a videogame.

Ah yes the Follin's brother master of the limitation done it only 5 channels
Tim and Geoff Follin
1:42:15 Made the music for this game as well. Definitely the best part of it.
Some of the best stuff from those guys, just a shame Geoff passed away recently though
It's unusual to hear Plok in a best of :)
The greatest console ever made, and my first ever system. Such a great way to start, but games will NEVER be like the '90s again. I miss it bad.
Never too late to get into gave development and make the games you want to play.
Wish they cared this much still. If...
That Waterworld song caught me by surprise. Awesome track
