Pressure relief valves in transformers are typically set to open at a predetermined pressure level, allowing the excess pressure to escape. After the pressure is relieved, the valve closes again to maintain the normal operating conditions.
It's important to note that transformers may have multiple safety mechanisms in place, including pressure relief devices, temperature sensors, and Buchholz relays, to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the equipment.
