Huh? The singer should sound less like...an angel? Dude, the singer/narrator is a human being, who wants love and respect, and had it for awhile, then lost it. And it was not the first time that same story played out in her life. Was she supposed to stop looking for love (yes, and sex) to avoid looking too "hedonistic" to you and other moral authorities? It's one thing to drop judgments on a comments page; it's another thing to work hatred like yours on real live people. I pray you have not done too much actual damage.

I always preferred Hart's lyrics. They were more clever and urbane than Hammerstein's--who was great, but could get a bit sappy on occasion.
