  • Fr. Thomas Keating reflects on the Christian contemplative movement, Contemplative Outreach which he co-founded, and other issues. He is amazed at the growth of Contemplative Outreach and at this point in his journey, three years before his death, he reflects that “the less you do the more God does.“ He acknowledges the spiritual evolution towards enlightenment that is going on, that no amount of evil can prevent. He looks forward for wisdom teachers of the various religions to come together, share and partner with one another where appropriate. He also shares about the power of forgiveness.

    I love this man and listen to everything he says. But I have yet to see a loosy goosy confederation survive the test of time. Zen has traditions and dharma transmission of teachers to ensure the teachings are preserved. Even then it struggles. But he may be right though, time will tell.
