  • In the Season 4 premiere, Penny goes on a little road trip to discover the history of the Chevron stop motion car campaign.
    DEAD MASCOTS is a series created, written and edited by Maggie Taylor, and co-produced & hosted by Penny Hays. It is no way meant to be for profit, and is instead meant to be a rather humorous, yet informative, historical look at the mascots of the past and advertising culture in general. We claim no ownership over any of the clips or music used in this show.
    The opening theme is "Truth In Advertising" by Paul Monjee (www.paulmonjee.bandcamp.com) and the closing theme is "Easy Money" by The Taxpayers (www.thetaxpayers.bandcamp.com). The music in this episode was "Sudden Courier" by The Blue Dot Sessions.

    Great way to start the season with a better version of "Cars" than with the Chevron cars.

      Thanks! Glad you liked it! Honestly, I was a little shocked by how it somehow took us this long to cover this ad campaign, considering it's my all time favorite, but I guess because they're so artistically done I consider them more animations than ads lol Either way, glad to finally have them added to the show!

      @@feelbadtv Remember my request I brought up last year, about telling you about Sprint's short lived robot mascots that debuted in a 2018 Sprint Superbowl commercial and lasted for only a year?
      2018-2019, They were the mascots of Sprint convincing people to switch it was Sprint's campaign at the time.

    I remember when chevron was the sponsor for ne of Disneyland’s most popular attractions

      You are not wrong! I always loved Autopia, and I haven't been to Disneyland for years now, but I would be surprised if Chevron weren't still the sponsors.
