I’m glad they are safe in their enclosure.

The girls certainly let the whole street know you've not only got hawks but you've got chickens! Lol

Hello Iris. For sure...lol. I've kept chickens for 11 years and all my neighbors know about them. Never a complaint. Several people have chickens in our neighborhood. We have no deed restrictions here.

As soon as you said, "It's all right girls" they didn't make another peep, it was instant silence :)

Thanks for video taping this! It was a really good video. With our coop we have done a really good job with not loosing chickens to predators.

Thanks for watching Chick Guy! It's an ongoing task to protect our chickens from predators.

No kidding! We made our coop totally predator proof even though it was pricey. But, I still need to watch out for predators to see what I can do to improve the coop.

@@dunestaniszewski2300 I know what you mean. I had a huge raccoon in the yard the other night and I was glad I added protective hardware cloth over the window screens. He would have gotten through the screen easily and gotten one of my hens.....always trying to stay ahead of the predators...darn critters...lol

I’m a first time chicken owner, my girls (& 1 cockerel) are all 8 weeks old, cockerel is 11 weeks old. There’s been a red tail hawk coming around after years of not seeing a single one. It was on top of my husbands truck the other day. There are 100+ rabbits scattered from the bottom to top of mountain where we live , so I hope this hawk will stay away from my babies. 😭

Hello. If you let them out to free range, you should be supervising them. A hawk will take one if you don't. That would be sad. Good luck and thanks for watching!

That was a Cooper's hawk judging by the grey stripes on its tail! Yeah, I'd highly doubt that little guy could cause any problems. Its only a Red Tailed hawk or possibly a Northern Goshawk that you'd have to worry about.

Thanks Jeremy. You know your hawks. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I've been bothered by someone who keeps saying otherwise! Unfortunately, even after watching more than 5,000 videos on TH-cam, I still have a lot to learn! It proves that all my hard work liking and favoriting videos got me nowhere!

@@JeremyThePlayer88 Don't let others or one person get to you. If hawks are your passion, no one can take that from you. Just keep learning about them and ignore the know it all people. To me, you know alot about hawks. 😉 Thank you!

I have the same in my area, cooper's hawks, and I just lost my black silkie to it as she was protecting her babies. They are sneaky and fast and can fly right through the trees so not to be seen till it is to late.

I saw a video where the chicken tore a hawk up. They are mean when they want to be. May have been a rooster tho, not sure

We had one about that size grab one of our chickens and I came out the door. Ripped half the skin off her breast.
We did get a couple Australorp chickens to add too the flock and have not had an aerial predator problem since. They say they look like a crow and aerial predators are afraid of crows.

It is illegal to harass or hunt or kill Raptors..or even having their feathers, apparently..I found a giant hawk feather, probably stalking my coop, and was reading about feathers..
