Carbs - I have generally eliminated them from my diet, as well. I eat more fats and meats; have lost a ton of weight, have increased energy, don't have an issue with energy crashes during the day, and feel much better. Anytime I have eaten a bite of cake, because my daughter offered it, I was sick the next day. Carbs are essentially survival food when we cannot get high quality meats.

For the first caller I would recommend a book called "the Athos diet", it's a breakdown and recommendation of the Lenten fast (which can apply to our biweekly fasting) that is also in line with the Orthodox church guidelines in a Mediterranean diet framework. We know the Mediterranean diet is the optimal diet for health, some carbs are actually great for you, and carbs are still the optimal fuel source for athletes and high performance activities as well as your brain. Don't demonize carbs as a whole.
