I got 42, rarest one was Disko island. I'm a bit confused why the inland Brazil ones are considered islands and not for example the area in Sweden between Kalix and Haparanda and up north to where the Torne River forks in Junosuando.
One of the ones in Brazil is Bananal, which is entirely enclosed by a river like Paris' Ile de France or Montreal are (except much bigger); theres another one along the central Amazon too. I think its because the basin is so flat. The one near the mouth of the Amazon and Tocantins rivers is Marajó which is a distinct island afaik (that is, it's not a delta).
Definitely a good showing! I feel like island names, especially of ones that don't show up on GeoGuessr or don't have large populations, are tough even for those of us super into geography!
Fun fact: the largest island of the Solomon islands is currently part of Papua New Guinea, but is slated to become its own country of Bougainville this decade. That's the only island in that region whose name I now know (aside from New Guinea itself)
My islands are Baffin Island, Cape Breton, Newfoundland, Vancouver island, Elizabeth island, manitulan island, sable island, Devon island, elk island, bigtancock island and northern greenland
Yeah. I remember hearing that the inland island in Tocantins is apparently the biggest inland island in the world, but I didn't know that there was another one nearby Manaus.
Going into this video, I told myself that I'd feel proud if I knew a single island that you didn't. I ended up knowing 5: Disko, New Britain, New Ireland, Bougainville, and Spitsbergen. But you absolutely smoked me in Indonesia and the Philippines. And I can never remember Shikoku for some reason.
I thought when you hovered over Atlantic Canada it was marking PEI, but then I realized it was a bigger island that's not as famous because it's not as populated.
Nicely done...I think I can only get about 35 or so.
Edit: I also moved the Greenland marker to the center of the island.
Two reasons I'm here:
1) Insane geography knowledge
2) hearing island/country/city names be pronounced with a really deep voice
That’s basically this whole channel
Fun fact: Bananal Island in Brazil
Is the largest river island in the world
i think this is the first time I've seen myself at the top of the leaderboard in a creator's hugequiz video lmao,, good effort CG!

It was so painful when you wrote "zeeland" instead of "zealand"
He was thinking of Zeeland, Netherlands. Yes, that's how it's spelled.
OK I looked it up ur right that island is Zealand.
But I'm also correct in saying he was thinking of the wrong thing
I think he was thinking of the island of zealand, but he mixed it up with zeeland or something
I've actually never seen it called that way, it's always labelled as Sjælland on my maps.
Axel-Heiberg, man. Axel-Heiberg. Axel-Heiberg, yo.

As a Canadian, I have no clue what most of those islands above Nunavut are called.
Interesting how a lot of the "20 hardest islands" are in the Philippines

0:35 Chichagof Geographer?

only ones I got that CG didn't was Devon island, Greenland, Svalbard, Bougainville and Southampton but other than that I didn't do too much better lol
Cool video. What's with the Brazil islands though? Are they really inland islands?
Yeah. I remember hearing that the inland island in Tocantins is apparently the biggest inland island in the world, but I didn't know that there was another one nearby Manaus.
The amazon river can explain for those in Manaus and Para as they are big inland islands separated by the river not sure about the one in the cerrado.
I think the one in Fiji is Viti Levu.

Next name the 100 smallest islands in the world. 😆
1. pile of mud I put in a puddle
2 to 100: norway islands
I tried this and got 41. I think above 50 is excellent.
Nice try CG. You definitely got more than I could get I reckon.
Got 54, probably should get 2 or 3 more but thats not bad
We (Canadians) definitely do not know any of those islands lmao
gg, i think i got 34 and missed some very obvious ones hahah
How is there an island in the dead center of Brazil? I’m lost
It's basically just a big piece of land that is surrounded by rivers on all sides.
I thought when you hovered over Atlantic Canada it was marking PEI, but then I realized it was a bigger island that's not as famous because it's not as populated.
I'm late
