I need to give this a try. I've been doing professional engineering design/CAD work for 7 years now and this looks SUUUUUPER interesting and fun at the same time. I love your controls within the game world concept. Keep up the good work.
Your enthusiasm is infectious and it's so interesting hearing a game maker talk about their thinking. When I was a kid I used to draw castles on maps I made. I'm 40 and so looking forward to this game!
It is intoxicating. The number of times that I have thought I will just see what has changed in the latest update, start from a fresh page again and hours and hours later I am still spinning around building this and that, wondering where I can get enough resources from, what is hidden in this cloud or this one. Spellbinding.
I just found this game from TH-camr i subs, when I watched it I immediately liked the gameplay and mechanisms in this game which were easy to understand, even though I was new, I immediately understood it. Even though the TH-camr I watched was confused 🤣. Unfortunately I don't have a device to play this game so I will only watch the game progress through videos on TH-cam or even from this channel. Really a very good game and this was made by 1 person, I'm so amazed. game has good potential when players can change the shape of the building design they want from the color or style of the building. Really looking forward to it update this game. 👍
Very important for me: there's no support for camera panning using arbitrary keys in the layout. My keyboard is dvorak, not qwerty. Gotta have all keys customizable. EDIT: that's for the original M&K layout. EDIT 2: The simplicity is great, that's why it's annoying that WASD can't be replaced with any keys you want. Same with arrow keys, some keyboards don't have those and should be remappable. Have the game be comfortable to play.
Hmmm that is a good point. , will have a think if I can add that. You can temporarily remap it to the arrow keys in the meantime. But agreed. This is on the to do list. .whay keys would you bind it to normally ?
@@falconeerdev Dvorak is just completely a different layout, the positions are w = ",", a="a", s="o", d="e" . Colemak is another similar layout and some people just map whatever keys they find most comfrortable to wherever they want. Some games bind keys to the same position by default and let me customize after, I find it to be the most sane option because for gaming the same positions make the most sense.
@@cohentheblue I understand , but the full rebind will likely take a lot longer to make . And adding a bunch of alternatives in the list. (So beyond wasd and arrows) Such as ,aoe might be a quick fix I can do much earlier. So having a list of button combos like wasd that also work on keyboards like yours is how you say.. a quick bandaid to help.
@@falconeerdev So the WASD is a completely different entity from the already rebindable keys? Like V to delete I rebound to K which for dvorak is in the same position as QWERTY V. It's playable with the arrows for me but it does reduce my enthusiasm. For my specific case, having an ",aoe"/dvorak layout option would work, obviously wouldn't cover everyone's use case like rebinding. Physical key location autodetection I only mentioned 'cause it's covenient and plenty of games do it so it's probably some kind of a standard solution. Thanks for considering this!

There is a hidden tease to some of that in one of the faction wonders. Lets say this universe is bigger than just an ocean world. So it's on my mind a lot.. Now I gotta go see dune;)
Just a random observation here: When you switch camera view from one building to another your camera doesn't get centered on the new building but instead seems to conserve the camera distance you had manually added on the previous building. So in essence you switch but the new building isn't at the center of the screen. I don't know if that's an intended feature but I find it a bit confusing and fiddly. Still, it's a beautiful work!
I think its cuz SplatterCat is using the WASD panning at the same time. it always centers on the new tower , that always becomes the center otherwise it becomes a bit messy.. but with the wasd panning you can mess with things ;)
@@falconeerdev I tried the demo myself. It's indeed a WASD panning issue. btw WASD panning itself is really sluggish and unresponsive no matter the sensibility settings. Is that intended?
