    Collections didn't have themes. Color is no theme. It made clothes boring, uninspired. For example how interesting were collections inspired by Scotland in 2006, ballet in 2008 and 2011, butterflies in 2014 and so on. No inspiration this year. Just a bunch of pink and red underwear with feathers and glitter. Boring.

    The thing I really missed was the fun. I like the fun attitude of the models in the old shows. They were smiling, their movement was a bit more playful than in other fashion shows and it seemed more like a big party. Now all the models looked so serious and some very annoyed like they didn't wanna be there.
    And like you said, the outfits were very basic and not so glamourous and creative like they were before. The themes were one of the best things about the show.
    I was a really big fan of the show. This year's one was just a very big dissappointment.

    VS before held a niche that no-one else had. In a world where women were constantly told to be cool and tough, they allowed natural femininity to still exist. The glamour, the joyful and sensual, but not vulgar vibe. They were called angels for a reason.
    I am not saying old VS was perfect - clearly, there were problems with the leaders. But honestly, it was probably VS that helped me a lot in embracing my feminine and softer side, in a world that constantly told me that anything 'girly' is vain and wrong.
    Now, they are like any other brand - or worse, they are a cheap copy of any other brand. Less sensual/more 'comfortable'. Girlpower, being tough, moody, and a little too sexualised. And missing the glamour, the iconic uniform hairstyle, and actually cool wings.

    Tyra I wouldn’t say was really bashing the plus sized girls she was just being real tbh. Not saying some stuff she said and did wasn’t problematic, but I think she was just being honest on how the industry is. She in my opinion actually was defending the bigger girls more. On the other hand, Janice Dickinson, a top model in the 70's and 80's, was often needlessly harsh and unnecessary with her words. However, she was being real about the industry on the whole : they wanted the standard size models.

    I used to love the VS show. It's a lingerie show for women. I want to see the human goddesses who won the genetic lottery. long legs, lean figures, gorgeous bouncy hair, glowing skin.
    Inclusivity is all fine and good but not here. Just because a person is pretty doesn't make them a model. Everyone wants to be a model these days but true models are rare. They are the perfect freaks of nature. These are the people I want to see on the runway! Not normal folks.

The most coveted spot for the most beautiful women in the world. That’s part of the glamor. Yes obviously everyone deserves to feel beautiful and sexy, but that’s the thing, this was never about the consumer, as you couldn’t buy the majority of the stuff shown on the runway. It’s about the models themselves. Adriana, Alessandra, Tyra, Heidi, Gisele, Karolina, we knew their names and we admired THEM. It was never really about the clothes, but how flawless and mesmerizing the models were. That’s where the magic was. Not in ordinary people, it’s not about us 😂

    They’re not aware of the show’s creator and disgraced former VS executive Ed Razek was fired due to sexual misconduct and harassment and inappropriate workplace behavior.

    Tyra said she would change it if it were up to her. It's not her fault that's how the industry was. For me, with Tyra also having curves and not stick-thin (like myself 😩- don't forget thin girls have weight/body insecurities too, a lot of us don't have a choice about it), and walking the runway, is iconic because that's exactly the type of body that you never saw back when she was in Top Model. She may have been problematic for other reasons, but she's always been a plus-sized body according to the high-fashion model industry and only gave the hopeful models a hard time because she was giving them the hard truth of the industry, not her personal feelings on weight. She even said that's why she wasn't a model.

    What's really funny is people like you hating on the show and wondering why it's not like it used to be and then not realizing that YOU are the problem. I don't condone the actions of that horrible man, but he's right in saying this is a fantasy. It used to be one of the best shows to watch and participate in because it wasn't for everybody and that's okay. The point of the Angels is that they are the pinnacle of perfection that few achieve. They work hard to look that way and they inspire awe. I'm sorry but I don't need to see "myself" represented because I'm happy and love myself as I am. If this makes you insecure then clearly it's not for you. What y'all fail to realize is that there are things that are not going to be for everyone and then you demand it changes and ruin it for the rest of us that had no problem with it and then y'all end up hating on it too because they didn't speficially do it the way you demanded. It's truly ironic. It has a place in 2024 and beyond, but those of you that wanted to change it from what it was needed to find your own thing and not mess it up for those of us who were already fans. I don't know why they pandered to y'all in the first place. Now it's ruined for all of us. THANKS.

    The reality is the consumer isn't demanding inclusivity. A small but loud segment of the internet population is but that doesn't translate to sales. They went more inclusive by cutting ties and getting rid of the angels for years and their sales tanked. The majority of negative comments about the show casting were having overweight and trans models at all - not that there weren't enough of them. It's unfortunate people can't just watch and enjoy the parts they like but the reality is inclusivity, and body diversity is not truly translating to sales from a marketing perspective.

    • @maddienoelle22
      @maddienoelle22 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is just not true. Size inclusivity and diversity is the main reason why Aerie took over the market and VS lost sales. VS refused to change with the times and Aerie took advantage of the changing market. I don’t know a single woman under 40 who doesn’t prefer to see a larger range of sizes actually being modeled on a clothing website. Young people have rejected the toxic obsession with being thin that left so many women with eating disorders and mental health conditions in the 90’s and 00’s.

    • @Gna_d54
      @Gna_d54 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@maddienoelle22 Very few people have restrictive eating disorders compared to the number of people who consume too much and are overweight and obese. These are grown adults who grew up in the 90s and 00s and it's not toxic standards that caused the real issue which is going to begin negatively affecting their life now but over-eating and not taking responsibility.
      Aerie took over the market because it appealed to younger women with the styles when Victoria Secret wasn't. And just because people want to see styles shown when shopping on-line in different body types does not mean it works for marketing. Conventionally attractive women get more clicks in advertising of all forms which drives more people to the site. Body diversity on social media pages though, does not work.

    You didn’t even get into the founder and previous CEO (until 2020) of L-Brands. His name is Les Wexner and he (and L-Brands) was the primary client of Jeffrey Epstein. It is believed that Wexner was also involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking. Epstein even molested some of the Victoria’s Secret models in the 90’s. You could honestly probably do a whole video about this.
    I’m from Columbus, Ohio, where Wexner grew up and built his business and where the headquarters of L-Brands and Victoria’s Secret still reside today. It’s insane the amount of stuff that is named after him in Columbus. The hospital at the university that I went to is even named after him. The ones shown in the video are beautiful and look like women. Let people think they are, no need to point it out. They are people before their gender. Just my thoughts.

      @meghangerhart643 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just want to preface this comment by saying that, while I am part of the queer community, I’m not trans. I would actually love to hear a trans person’s take on this. These are my thoughts, for whatever they are worth.
      Transgender women ARE women. Calling them “transgender” isn’t an insult. Transgender people exist. You can’t and shouldn’t erase the “transgender” from them. That’s part who they are and it’s nothing to be ashamed of nor taken away. Most trans people self identify as trans. Transgender is not a dirty word.
      I feel like your comment has good intentions but, unfortunately, comes across as a bit ignorant. Acknowledging that someone is transgender is not an insult, it’s literally acknowledging an intrinsic part of who they are. Not using the term “transgender” because you think it somehow dehumanizes a trans person equates to you thinking that being trans and acknowledging that you are trans is dehumanizing. It’s not. Being transgender is something that you should be able to be proud of, as a intrinsic part of your being. Acknowledging someone as transgender helps de stigmatize the word and normalize it as something that many people ARE. Again, we use the word “transgender” as a descriptive. Not using the literal term for what some people are born as erases a huge part of who they are and actually furthers stigma because it suggests that being transgender is something that shouldn’t be talked about or acknowledged.

    the set design in general was so lackluster. in the older ones, you could tell by looking at the background just how complex the stage looked, and how much time it took to craft it. this one looked like a warehouse they rented last minute. also it looks like the lighting/filter they used washed everyone out. i get that they wanted to go for this soft pink, angelic vibe but it just made all the girls look so bland with barely any contrast! i got wonka experience in glasgow vibes.

    The outfits gave Shein and the ponytails gave bald.
    I liked the diversity (I am small enough to wear 0-2 so don’t if you are thinking of one of those you only like it bc you’re not thin comments- nope). I didn’t like how ugly and cheap all the costumes were. If they came in with the same level of budget they did from the early 2000s to early 2010s the show wouldn’t have been so embarrassing.
    I wear uniqlo camisoles tho so Im prolly not the target audience but I used to like tuning in for beautifully made garments too.
    Also I liked Mika’s walk ahaha. The actual movement part of the walk was fine and she looked good.

    Lisa kinda hesitated answering that question. As a teen I admired the shows glamour and beautiful aesthetics. Like my friends at that age, all it inspired us to do was diet. As an adult, I never viewed their items as something I could wear even at 132lbs, 5ft 5in. The models almost seemed superhuman to me (but not ofc), bc they didn’t look like ANY woman I knew growing up. So I can understand that it’s “fantasy”. Yet there’s nothing very creative, inspiring about wearing lingerie with beautiful angel wings - that’s many girls’ Halloween costume. Not to compare, but with Savage x Fenty shows the creativity and representation is actually inspiring, for once many women can watch it and think “hey, I could wear that and feel great in it”. Maybe marketing “fantasy” worked in the early 2010s for VS, but consumer demand has changed and corporations need to keep up. Ashley Graham did not have to cover up, it sends a message that belongs back in the 2000s

    I would be extremely sad if V.S. ceased to exist. I have a hard time finding bras that fit correctly outside of V.S. I'm a V.S. 32D to DD, depending on bra style. Anytime I venture elsewhere, I can not find a bra that fits me properly. And V.S. has extremely comfortable bra options as well, my favorite is the wireless bra, it's like if a bra & bralette had a baby. The quality is also great. I miss the glamor they once had, even in store, the vibe is just meh, and that part does suck.

    I adored the yearly Victoria's Secret Fashion show during the peak-performance & profit years & always set aside work/play to view the iconic Angels 😇😍 it was a thrill 🦚🦚🦚😍 ... It was also very sad when the show, along with all the Angels were cast out. All of the abuse & unrealistic expectations needed to be stopped - no arguments there 🌹 But last year's show( 2023 ), was a bit bizarre to me 😳😵‍💫😬. I can say I did enjoy this one more( 2024 ), but it was obvious that most of the budget went into the Original Model's pockets and demands for Daughter spotlighting was non-negotiable 😕 I did appreciate that both older and newer models were showcased - petite and plus sizes too - I honestly thought every single woman looked very healthy & very beautiful ❤️❤️ ... Personally, it's always been odd for me to hear SO MANY women say that when they see Models on the Runway, or even just Beautiful Women in passing, they're filled with insecurity & indignation. From a very young age, for some unknown reason, I've looked at pretty friends, classmates, models, actresses and artists with adoration and even drawn inspiration from them. The beautiful girl next door and the ethereal princess on the big screen are not the reason my belly has a jiggle or my skin is breaking out- and even if these physical flaws are not my fault, not the results of my daily dietary and disciplinary decisions, others are simply still not to blame. I think we as women need to choose to take care of ourselves rather than to claw and cast stones at those who do🦢🦢🦢

    It’s never enough for woke people. It’s the same thing at school , why would you get jealous about someone who gets the highest grade when that person worked harder. It’s about the product, if the model makes you more interested in the product/ clothes, that means they are doing the job professionally, regardless their curves, colour, abs. As a male, seeing hot guys wearing sexy underwear makes me interested in trying the product. If a brand uses a model that is ugly for your taste, you dont even look at the clothes.

    • @maddienoelle22
      @maddienoelle22 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You clearly don’t understand that the market right now is one where women want to see beautiful women of all sizes model clothes. Like women in 2024 are legit more likely to buy clothes from a website that shows models who fit into a variety of sizes. Victoria’s Secret’s downfall is partially attributed to their refusal to use models of different sizes. Size does not define beauty. Ashley Graham is a great example of this.

    I mostly agree with you. I think it's the first step. Actually i fell in love with the more diverse models with bodies that represent the world and would actually for the first time ever consider to go into their stores. The woman (that might be trans, but are woman) absolutely amazing. If they really take the feedback and improve it i feel it can work. Also the (almost) natural hair wow i loved it! Tyla and Cher as performers awesome, the rest a bit boring. We should also take into account that men have a big influence on how woman should look like, that's what woman started to believe. Men do not dominate sales anymore, we are stronger then ever and we buy what we like. Not what a man likes. Tyra Banks i didn't even think about because it's that long ago, but that's a strong statement! Would love to see someone else next year. The questions of the interview they really should look forward to the future and not look at the past.
