BMD should just buy out their startup and integrate them into their team. Maybe that is their plan? Also helps both the Nexus guys and BMD are from Australia.. I actually like the Super35 sensor, as i dont need to replace e.g. my Sigma 18-35. And even using my M43 glass?? Perfect camera for me!
Love it and jumped on the wait list. If this comes to market I will buy one as I love the BMPC6K Pro image and this camera adds all the need I want for the 6K in a package that make sense for the modern film maker.
2:54 that looks like regular displayport to me. edit: yeah, that's totally just display port. PC gamers and animators/graphics folks are very intimate with this cable lmao
@@erwickdsouza I watched this video and agree with the author, but I think this video is more about formats larger than Full Frame. Anything larger is really much more expensive than better, but FF gives noticeable advantages for reasonable money. Pyxis confirms this
I would be stoked to grab this - however, me being cautious as this is a brand new startup. It’s the pocket 6K sensor so look at any video showcasing that and you’ll see the quality hah! Even this video was shot on the 6K Pro which has the same sensor so this is what you can expect.
@@initialfocus Ok Sweet. Love how it is really innovative in its build. A much needed refresh to the industry. I have a OG BMPCC 6K already, but I might definitely pick one up upon its release and give it a test on a doc shoot.
So you're saying you can ask anyone who knows nothing about cameras to just turn your camera on,( without you giving instructions on what to press) what will you be doing then that will warrant you to ask an amateur to operate your camera? I mean just a question because I am sure you will not do that.
Great video, but some of us still need Sony or Canon quality AUTOFOCUS in such a camera. Can you imagine? A manual or autofocus switch???? It could be AMAZING
I messaged Thomas and was like bro I get the comments saying “this feels too good to be true!” But they seem confident and excited to get it released 🔥
There are a bunch of predictions that niche cameras will become obsolete over the next decade for creating visuals. So it's better to invest in understanding core skills that actually make an impact while still having a value return over time, by using whatever available. Spending so much for such hardware that can't promise returns in the world where rules are getting stricter and extra taxes while shooting outdoors where there are no sure securities too.
There are rules. There is user knowledge. Kinda makes me nuts when users start off with, I can F*ck this up. I can make a mistake. It's like putting user error on the manufacturer. Come on bud. Things aren't where I want or need them... Brand fault!!
In a hurry even you or I could press it instead of the lens release button , they look the same and are in the sameish place, I can see myself quicky want to grab a shot and press that instead. It would be on a rail system so u actually have to pull it out from the autolock and slide it forward
*Hey Michael, looks like a great value of a filmmaking shooter's style camera ! 👍The only feature I wish they would add is the ability to shoot 6K resolution video in ProRes HQ 👍. We don't always need to shoot in RAW workflow on all of our projects. In fact, many of our clients are still preferring compressed ProRes 422.*
@@ThinkDinkandBlink Uhhh, yeah, but that is upto 4K ONLY. If you want to shoot in full resolution in 6K, then you must shoot in BRAW. This is also a limitation in several other cameras, such as the Canon C80 and C400, and all the other versions of BMD Pocket 6K cameras. It is not always necessary to shoot in RAW formats ! RAW formats take up enormous amounts of extra disk space and require a pretty beefy computer to playback smoothly.

Blackmagic should hire him and him do his thing !!
This looks better designed than the Pyxis tbh

Personally I think it’s a great product. I’d like to see some more examples but I’m down to pick it up as a future camera
The full cooperation with BM means they must be soft testing this for potential integration if this goes well. This is quite impressive

Variable ND is in the Sony FX6, FX9, Burano and even the old FS7 MkII. You know that right?
i don't think he ever said it's not in other cameras, just that its a huge deal for this one compared to other bmpcc's
Sony cameras are the double of the price
Game changer. Especially for that price
So what's the relation between Nexus and BM?
Needs full frame and safety lock for lens.
The optional internal speed booster does the job
The cable is a monitor cable used a lot.
So many features out of the box for that price seem to be too good to be true!
If there is a full frame version, it will be the beeeest camera on the market today (for the price)
Its functions and weight are something incredible.
They have mounts for full frame
Full frame is overrated AF. Watch Shagral's video

if I sent them a better camera, would they rehouse it into this?
Displayport is not a weird cable? Look on the back of your computer monitors, it's better than HDMI in some cases (Specifically grading for me)
