It is a mountain of "firsts", Disneyland's Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction is the grandparent of modern rollercoasters. It was the world's first tubular steel coaster, first rollercoaster with computer controlled dispatch system and block brake sections, first thrill ride at Disneyland, first man-made mountain constructed of steel and concrete, and the first roller-coaster to include a splash at the end. There is a long and fascinating story behind this iconic ride and it all begins with a single postcard from Switzerland...
