Plastic over newly-purchased items is horrible! The gory accident that happened to you Emma, has also happened to me; cannot understand why packaging is so ridiculous!! Happy that a plaster was all that was needed! Loved all the scenery... the salmon: magical... the dolphins, seals, birds... all just beautiful; as-is the autumn (my favourite time of year). :)

Apparently, the Arny use for their troops it, as it's that good. I've recently come back from a trip & didn't have one bite & I usually get eaten alive with them. This is so much a motivation to do a trip like that myself! I just will skip the knife incident as I usually fall over unconscious when I cut even a tiny scratch in my fingers ;-) Yes I am clumsy too! Just wanted to say thank you for this video. We watched it while on holiday in Scotland and went to Chanonry Point on the off chance of seeing some dolphins. On the day we went the was a whole pod of dolphins close to shore - a magical experience and one we wouldn't have had without your video. Thank you!!
We stayed at a beautiful beach - Achnasheen - Stirkhill where we saw an otter come out of the sea and ambled along the beach. It was all the more special as we didn’t expect it there.
Oh, I would so love to see salmon jumping the river like you got to, that was really cool. Midges, oh my, can't take them on my face, I wear a netted hood. Glad you didn't do a lot of damage to your thumb. I've done some trauma to a few of my digits and thankfully I've never cut one off. I watched the golf tournament at St. Andrews last week so I was thinking of you two wandering around Scotland. Loved the views and wildlife you showed us. Keep it coming, you two are awesome! One of the worst cuts that I have had on my finger is actually from paper! Opening a brand new ream of paper in the office,it was so easy to rub the edges the wrong way. Glad Emma's wasn't so bad. Beautiful scenery on this road trip btw!!

The salmon swim upstream to spawn then die as they wear themselves out swimming up stream then digging to lay their eggs. They are born in cold fresh water then swim to the sea. Fabulous vide
OMG the Falkirk Wheel was the most boring thing I witnessed in Scotland. Engineering marvel but god how boring, but then again I have been through the Locks on the Ganges at the 3 Gorges Dam so my that skewed my thoughts

I was at Rogie falls just a few weeks ago! Saw my first-ever Salmon there as well, even though I live barely 10 miles from a well-known Salmon leap! Glad your thumb wasn't too bad...I nearly took the entire top of my big toe off once and that was agony!! You're doing the NC500 the right way around in my opinion - the east coast is beautiful but the west coast is just amazing and I think if you do the west before the east the east would be a bit anticlimatic (sorry east coast!). I missed the Whaligoe steps (internet signal cut out and we missed the sign as well!)

The best thing for keeping the midges away is Avon Skin So Soft dry oil. I know it sounds daft, but it works! I’m glad your finger is okay, I managed to take a good slice off the tip of my middle finger with a new mandoline a couple of months ago. It now healed but still a bit numb. Like your thumb it bled a lot!
When I got my first camper a t25, it broke down. The AA man got it started and I was so excited i jumped in the van but stood up too early and split my head open. Suffice to say it was like that scene from Carrie. Fortunately I was bizarrely 10 mins away from a specialist head injury unit with no waiting time. Some super glue later we were back on the road. Still have the scar as a memento ;) We stuck to the West coast it's sooo beautiful.
Even though I've been to some of the places you've visited, I'm still unbelievably envious! And right through the video I'm thinking to myself "If you think the East Coast is beautiful, you should see the West Coast!"

Like the mosquito bit. In south Louisiana, we also have dive bombing little terrors. Some consider the mosquitoes our 2nd state bird. We don't only have them in the summer. We have a winter variety also. If you come to Southern US, buy some mosquito repellent with deer in it.
I have to say that I am terribly ignorant when it comes to birds and I have appreciated your guys enthusiasm for it, I have never noticed so many beautiful birds before....😁👏 Saying in my real South African way "Ag shame Emma! sorry about your finger"

Emma, if it makes you feel any better I did similar to my thumb preparing my wife's birthday meal. So her evening was spent taking me to the hospital (which she has a massive fear of!). And I can't even say it was a special effort or I was inexperienced. I cook every night but managed to choose this special ocassion to slice it open. Hope you heal quickly an Alex doesn't milk it too much (that wouldn't be like him).

Avon’s “Sikn So Soft” is a best kept secret. Works amazingly well to protect one form the voracious mosquitos of Canada as well.

Emma, if it makes you feel any better I did similar to my thumb preparing my wife's birthday meal. So her evening was spent taking me to the hospital (which she has a massive fear of!). And I can't even say it was a special effort or I was inexperienced. I cook every night but managed to choose this special ocassion to slice it open. Hope you heal quickly an Alex doesn't milk it too much (that wouldn't be like him).
