Mike: "Remember when you used to buy physical games and you'd play that game for like a solid month? Those were the good old days." also Mike: "I hate games that take longer than 5 hours to beat." Never change, bro.
Mike, when trapping a ghost, it's essentially a game of tug of war. Don't let the ghost get too close to your character or the proton beam will be broken. Pull the spook in, let go of the button, then hold it again to pull him back in before he gets too far away and the stream is broken. Try and center the ghost over the trap, and pull him towards you. (Bear in mind, the ghost will pull you in the direction he's trying to escape in, so use the d-pad to pull against him). It takes patience and practice, but once you've got the technique, it's really satisfying. Also, the burning house is a nightmare level. It's the only stage you NEED the goggles. Do that one last, and buy all the goggles you can.
You had Magical Hat as "Majikaru Hashito no Butsutobi Turbo!". It's one-hit only unless you have the egg with you unlike the US/EUR version. Different enemy placement, key items locations, bosses attacks and patterns are different.
1 of the thing i enjoy when watching your playthroughs mike when you talk about life and what brings joy in your life. 56:58 you talked about how older people always say playing games is a waste. My entire life ive been told that and i agree. Whatever brings joy and happiness in your life, if it video games, screw what they say, go play!! It so nostalgic and fun watching your videos!!
I beat Ghostbusters as a kid and can tell you anything you want to know about it. You hold B to catch middle ghosts, but you have to let go when it gets close to you, or it'll get away, like the line breaking in a fishing game. Hold B, let go, hold B, let go, keep moving it over the trap, hold B to pull it down over the trap, and the trap automatically pulls it in.
In Decap Attack, if you jump directly down on the big red stack of anal beads it refills your health as the beads turn white. If you don't drop directly down on the top, you'll just swing. Why do you guys say it's a weird game? 2:51
I discovered that by accident back then, but I didn't realize it restored health. Also, if they think this game is weird, wait 'til they try the Mario games...
I'm so happy I'm not the only one having so much frustration with this game. I mean, I LOVE THE GAME - but yeah, it's too much to learn before you can enjoy the game. And when I played this game as a kid at a friends house we were to young to even know how to read the instruction manual
One of my favorite Ghostbuster games :P Just find all the bosses, catch the ghost out of their bodies, rinse and repeat. It gets difficult near the end for sure. The Castle stage gets confusing. You just have to explore and kill all the bosses to continue to the final boss. Winston out of commission for no reason lol. You have to be at a certain position/angle to catch the ghosts. Also I thought their was an order you had to go through, i think its the small apartment bottom right, then the woody house, then the ice stage then the high rise? Its been a hot minute. Wonder is a bit easy lol, their is one or two stages that are legit difficult.
plenty of games on the Genesis that fit the season. Ghostbusters, The Ooze, Haunting Starring Polterguy, Decapattack, The Immortal, Mutant League Football, Mutant League Hockey, Devil's Crush, Garfield: Caught in the Act, Gargoyles, Doom Troopers.
Another fun stream! A few suggestions that might spark your interest (steam): Heidelberg 1693 - I'll keep recommending it because I still think you might enjoy something this... different in the 2d action platformer scene. Gothic action platforming with a musket. Wallachia: Reign of Dracula - 'Genesis Castlevania' vibes Gravity Circuit - A little more 'modern' than you typically like, but the talking is easily skipped and the grapple mechanic is fun. Apes Megaman well. Anyway, thanks for the stream and keep on truck'n!
I love Decap Attack! I think the idea around the character is that he is a "Frankenstein's Monster" type of being, cobbled together from the organs of multiple people.
After playing Mario 35 on the Switch, the original games never have felt the same since. As Mario 35 was really challenging. Whereas the original games' levels now feel real empty. When you go from having a screen full of Goombas, to then playing the original with only 2, it just now feels empty and kind of boring. Which is why I'd love to use AI to make new 8-bit and 16-bit Mario games.
He's finally playing Ghostbusters on Genesis. This is a game that takes a lot of practice and repetition. It's not an easy game. He should probably watch some playthroughs/tutorials on TH-cam to get a feel for what's in store. I was frustrated just like him when I first started playing this game. Good luck MF Mike!
@@mikematei It's gonna be like that in the very beginning until you learn how the game is actually played. The more you play it, the more you understand, and the easier it gets. It's a cool game once you get good at it. I actually think it's right up your alley. You can probably master this f*cking game if you devote enough time to it. Don't give up. We in TH-cam land are all watching. Keep going dude. Best wishes.
To catch the ghosts, repeatedly press the button to hold the ghost without bringing it down. Move the ghost over the trap then hold the button down to bring the ghost down. If done right, you'll bring the ghost down above the trap and the trap will automatically open and catch the ghosts.
Quest 3 has much better lenses (pancake lenses), so the image is much clearer across the entire lens. It's also higher resolution. It's thinner too and can do pretty good augmented reality (AR).
People shit on Decap Attack, but I really like it. Cool Halloween atmosphere, and the graphics, controls and music are all pretty decent in my opinion. 🤷♂️
Great stream as always, Mike. I was recently on your blog reading your review of Gradius V, I'm fairly new to the Gradius series but decided to give it a try. Had to turn it down to Very Easy almost immedately 😅 great game but tough as nails!
I like physical media, but I've been buying a lot of games digitally if it's something I plan to replay periodically, or if it's small in size. I'll buy the physical game if it's something I know I'll never want to play again after beating, or if it's a really large game that would take up too much space on the SD card. Though those SD cards have been getting real cheap and easy to upgrade to a larger one. Having digital games, I really do love being able to bounce around since I don't have to go and swap out carts. I actually think I'd forget about some games if they were physical sitting in my dvd zip case vs being able to instantly scroll through them digitally on my Switch.
This whole stream comes across as though it's mainly people trying to annoy Mike, and people accidentally annoying Mike, with Decap Attack in the background. As to the game, I owned a Mega Drive back in the day and always knew of/was curious about this game without owning it, and suppose I never will now, so this was an enlightening watch. Thanks.
This game reminds me of Plok a bit. This version of Ghostbusters looks very good. The New Ghostbusters 2 on the NES is a great game. I’m surprised it only got released on PAL.
I'm guessing it's the music. NGB2 has Flip City, We're Back, and Spirit in its soundtrack; there are tracks which sound like On Our Own and Love Is A Cannibal as well.
Yeah, talking flowers are lame. Back in my day we played real Mario games... with talking mushrooms. Real men hang with talking mushrooms. 😏 I skipped out on this game because looked silly, but Decap Attack seems pretty darn fun. I may have to try it sometime.
Decap it's been years since I last played it just to let people know just got done watching sega, lord x a fan made R type has been made for the sega genesis its just the demo rightnow looks pretty cool
Good PS2 games for you, that I like. Taito Legends PS2 1/2 The Punisher PS2 Silpheed ps2 Star Wars Starfighter PS2 Stuntman ps2 Outrun2006 - ps2 - streamed it TimeSpiltters Burnout 3
Out of all the games you did on James & Mike Mondays, Decap Attack always stuck with me in my head. Probably mostly due to its protagonist being not your everyday run-of-the-mill game protagonist but have a good design and interesting way of attacking. The comic style graphics are also really good. Definitely a game Nintendo should put up on its Genesis Online service. Yikes, that Ghostbusters game....makes the NES Ghostbusters look like a two-piece jigsaw puzzle almost. Game that is missing from your Games I've Beaten On Stream list: -Phelios (Sega Genesis) -Also Fire Shark (Sega Genesis) is listed but the link leads to a private video.
I want to use AI to create a new Super Mario Bros 3 game, but with all new levels. Imagine that, opening up AI, and it writing a brand new Mario Bros 3 game every time.
I got Felix the Cat on NES for my birthday back in the day, and I beat the game in like 30 minutes and was pissed that I wasted my whole birthday on a game that I should have instead rented first. Though maybe my local video store didn't have the game for rent or something. I stopped renting video games nearly 20 years ago as they started getting longer to where I couldn't beat it over the weekend anymore.
The new Mario is made for the woke generation. Soon they will try and ban all games that could make you a bit angry or frustrated. As in anything that is at all challenging.
Mike: "Remember when you used to buy physical games and you'd play that game for like a solid month? Those were the good old days."
also Mike: "I hate games that take longer than 5 hours to beat."
Never change, bro.
I played and completed Decap Attack again a couple of months ago. It's an underrated gem.
for whatever reason i really love the "feet kicking" sound effect when chuck luigi's through the air
If you end up trying Decap Attack again, I would recommend starting with 3 hearts instead of 2 in the options, given that you have limited continues.

I love Decap Attack! Never beat it, but I have fond memories. Gets really hard in a not fun way in the latter levels.
In the options menu of Decap Attack Mike, you can set it to 3 hearts instead of 2 for health. Great Halloween game.
Those Hallmark pac-man stickers were my favorite.

I enjoy decap attack
Dynamite heddy next? The NA version is made harder
Had both of these as a kid, loved them both 👍
Same. Beat 'em both, but it took a while.
the Ghostbusters game reminds me of a cross between Home Alone and Wayne's World. Not a good combination haha
Yeah, you really need the powerups in Decap Attack!
You mean the ones I was using all throughout the stream?
@@mikematei Yes. We were agreeing with what you said in the video.

Kid Kool, Psycho Fox, & Decap Attack were all made by the same dev, Vic Tokai, and have some of the same mechanics.

1:58:49. The most dividing question- is it brain or is it intestine?? Maybe it's both.

It's good to punch twice always when opening those statues just in case it's a ghost
Sega Genesis Ghostbusters is always great. Some good childhood memories in that game.

Genesis Alex Kidd (Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle) is also rock, paper, scissors.
How you feel about Ghostbusters is how I feel about Megaman games. I beat Ghostbusters and Decap Attack but never a Megaman game.
I really enjoy this Genesis Ghostbusters game. My cousin had it back in the days, fun times.

It was fun to watch this sega genesis genesis game, it reminds me of "Toki" for sega genesis as well... fun games, feel free to give it a try!
Buy a bunch of goggles in the item shop before the fire house. I think 9 is the max.

You might need to watch a GDQ run of Ghostbusters for an hour and you'd probably be able to beat it fairly easily.
Folgers, Mountain grown coffee, somewhere but here.
Oh i hate this one! Lol What were they thinking? It's Vic tokai at its best... a kid kool for Genesis.
Calm down Mike. It's gonna be ok.

Ghostbusters for PS3 and PC is awesome I consider it the 3rd installment.

sega genesis a - z would be awesome

Decap Attack is good while Kid Kool sucks because Genesis goes what Nintendon't.
