Congrats on the win Seth! I'm the builder for Bad Hair Day and it was a ton of fun getting to fight Sonic. 21:46 Yep, its unfortunate I had to learn that the hard way lol. I've since swapped out my drive motors for repeat brushed ones, which should hopefully be able to take a hit or two. After getting to see the footage played back I'm pretty happy with my driving performance/being able to keep my wedge pointed toward you for nearly the whole match despite losing a motor early on..
Your driving was quite good, and that wedge is really tough to get around. You can see how much easier it was for me to wreck the Viper kits. I think with both drove sides working it could have gone either way!
I’m planing on making a bot that is basically a antweight division do you have any advice for driving/building something like that? (By division I mean division v1-v3)
You could wait for the antweight hubmotor to be released and design around that, it should make your life easier. Driving Division is sortof a total nightmare tho, if this will be your first combat bot my advice is do not do this lmao. More info than can be covered in TH-cam comments would be needed to fully answer you. Feel free to email me at team@justcuzrobotics.com
I wish I could wear my controller neck strap with the insta 360 filming but it obviously gets in the way. Maybe I'll try and rig an insta mount to my transmitter someday!
Mostly, practice practice practice! You should have a test box if you don't already, practice turning at different speeds and with the weapon at different speeds to get a feel for how much the gyro forces affect steering. Just getting a feel for your bot helps make sure it does what you need it to do in the moment.
The Scalar Kits are a scary bunch, there were three at this tournament but I never ended up fighting them. However every single one had a lot of issues to start out for some reason.
No not at all, at least not for V4.0... After Sonic's success last month I spent a week or so designing a new Division V4.1 that's a little closer to the geometry of Sonic but it doesn't really work. Sonic is 1lb and the weapon motor is about 35 grams, and the weapon itself is only around 40 grams of spinning mass. The square cube law would suggest everything gets 1.73 times bigger size at 3 times the mass to scale up sonic to a 3lb. Unfortunately the 5536 hubmotor is 6 times the weight of Sonic's weapon motor and Division V4's weapon is 4.25 times heavier than Sonic's so it ends up having a terrible weight distribution and it is pretty much impossible to drive. I'm going to need to rethink the geometry for Division entirely.
No unfortunately but you have some nearby. CT hosts NHRL (3lb, 12lb, 30lb) which is highly regarded as one of the best events in the world, and also MakerBattle (1lb). Occasionally there are events in Massachusetts as well, New Jersey has a league called GSCRL (1lb, plastic ant, 3lb), but that’s about it for what’s nearby you. Unfortunately no New Hampshire events if you want to stay within the state. If you want to compete you may have to expand your reach a bit but as said before some things are nearby.
Sonic may looked the same, but quite stronger and slightly better than last year 👍👍. Against Spinaroonie is like the Gigabyte decapitation against Tombstone in 2018. Bad Hair Day is like a Mini-Brutus by the looks and colors. Sonic sent Eggtimus Prime flying quite a lot than I anticipated. Congrats to Sonic (1st), Bumblebee (2nd), and Pancake (3rd). What a spectacular VICTORY CAKE 🎂🎂🎂.
The CAD for Sonic is able to be purchased in my site for $5 if you want to make your own! justcuzrobotics.com/products/sonic-v1-cad
Don't want to be mean. But do you need eyedrops? As in do you suffer from dry eyesballs?

It was a great experience getting to see Sonic’s amazing run in person. Congratulations on the well deserved win!
Thank you so much!
21:46 damnnn there was aggression behind that lol
It's unfortunate seeing the same thing happen over and over to people who don't know better, gotta get the word out somehow!
We need to encourage fingertech to sell 16mm planetaries somehow
@@JustCuzRobotics don’t look at me… I totally don’t own a couple silver sparks… totally.
Congratulations on the trophy
20:08 YAY its not just me who does that and then wonders why the holes don't thread
Sonic is the definition of simple, quick and effective.
I try to follow the Keep It Stupid Simple approach in most of my designs

Congrats! I appreciate being able to see you work the controller for a couple fights as well, especially with how zippy a robot like sonic is

You really need to go to an MRCA event to fight in the 1lb class, you won't regret it!
I'm sure I'll make it down someday, probably easier flying with ants than beetles
The judges very soon will use the amount of "oh"s people scream out against a robot to determine the winner, bravo
great vid your my favorite youtuber i just started on my own combat robot btw.
That's great, good luck with your build!
@@JustCuzRobotics thanks
Looks like an awesome event!
You should call your next robot "The Procrastinator" 🤣
Sonic definitely has some punch! Congrats on the win!
Hey seth, this is the driver for eggtimus prime. Do you have any tips to improve my driving for july?

With the new updates coming to sonic, will there be an update to a brushless drive for the future of sonic updates?
Not sure, the drive is working very well as-is. I haven't even begun designing the upgrades yet though.
I'm building Sonic from your CAD. How do you mount the weapon motor? The shaft won't allow me to push the motor into the frame.
The frame is flexible when printed in TPU, can just pull the uprights apart
It’s a reg Antweight, not a plastic one, right? Weapon Metal?
Yup!
I am really excited for a 1lb hub motor. Time to upgrade the Scalar!
The Scalar Kits are a scary bunch, there were three at this tournament but I never ended up fighting them. However every single one had a lot of issues to start out for some reason.
Was the design of Sonic a base for design of Division V4?

Is Sonic made out of tpu?
Yep!
Any events up in NH?

There are none really in NH, but there are a few Massachusetts events popping up. There should be one in September at RC Excitement.
@@JustCuzRobotics Oh RCE has one? I may have to bring both RC cars AND RC bots.
So sad to hear that you can't post your nhrl video
You'll just have to be patient, I'll be able to post it eventually! Just not for a few months
21:47 and that’s why I don’t use them.
That fight was awesome! if you are back again in July, I hope we get to do another rematch between sonic and spinaroonie!!!!
I have a vacation during the July event unfortunately but I'll be back someday!
@@JustCuzRobotics can’t wait! They’ll be more events for sure!
Use 12 pounder parts to build a 3 pound version of sonic .
There kind of are no standard 12 pounder parts, at least not ones that wouldn't be 2lbs of drive motor and gearbox
Learned something again
If you had a gyroscope on Sonic, it would be almost unstoppable@
There is little chance of that hapenning, gotten stay under 1lb

😊😮 are you like sonic the anime and the movie but can you make rest of them like shadow knuckles tails we like that
For personal reasons I do not like this video
Lol sorry
Did you have a bot that lost to sonic?
@@willfranken8293 Lol yes
I built Mini-Mako
But I am just being silly. I'm Seth's biggest fan 🤓
Lol
But the cake was not in this fight (cheesecake). Still, Congrats! Ah, that is what you meant.
im so cool
