Therefore, my state governor paused on reopening Maryland. While I still film during the pandemic, I always bring a mask along, use plenty of hand sanitizer after every visit, and make every video without me talking.
I actually just stopped at this hotel to check out if these were still like this, the first set in this tower got modded and is under maintenance, the other set is still original
@@FloridianElevators I’m guessing they’re still modding the first bank because I went up to the fourth floor and saw a guy working on the elevator in the shaft
It's crazy that I was here over four years ago, and I wouldn't think that they would get modernized anytime soon, but I guess that they have to do it NOW! KONE will definitely do a FANTASTIC job on this mod! 😏
The first mod panels look pretty tacky. I won't mind one bit that this panel is getting replaced, but the motor and controller being replaced is unfortunate.
Agreed completely. And it's also unfortunate that the voice and chimes were disabled a few years ago. Really what made these special was the 401 style ride quality, acceleration and leveling, but if it didn't still have that, I'd just consider these to be just your typical generic modded high rise elevators.

While I'm glad one of my top 2 favorite lift brands is doing the mod, I'm hoping Kone only butchers up the fixtures and cab but keeps them running the same as when they were original !
TK's mod in 2010 was exactly like what you just described. It's pretty obvious this will be for sure a full and complete mod with new motors and controllers.
Sadly I've seen way too many Elevonic 401s getting modded… it just doesn't make sense. It's sad though, because it was 1 of the 1st computerized elevator systems for high-rise buildings, it was efficient, & was probably the best controller Otis ever made. Now they're becoming harder & harder to find every year.
@@EWPA14 Fortunately there's still plenty of them in places like Seattle and Dallas, and there are plenty of them that exist in other places as well still. They're practically extinct in both Florida and Vancouver, BC now though.... :(

I sadly did not get to check the service cars. I just took a ride to the top in each bank and checked out the property. Didn’t have a lot of time

This was only taken 2 months ago. I doubt they've been touched yet.

Welp, the gold doors have since been changed out and replaced with Silver doors...

It seems like Seattle still has a few, but most of the 1s I knew of in Dallas have gotten modded.
