Another thing to note on Reimu's greed is that according to one of her conversations with Rinnosuke, she believes the purpose of a shrine is to gain donations. Though from a different Rinnosuke story, she is described as not valuing money. One can only assume her greed isn't for money's sake, but in pursuit of the shrine's status. Unfortunately, she has another duty instead of being a proper shrine maiden, which has purposefully left her and the shrine in the state it is...
Huh, I see. So Reimu gets donations as more of a purpose than a value thing.

reimu being poor is one of my favorite jokes of the fanom, it kinda gives the already a great character more depth and reletabilty despite it not being particualry canon,

I had a weird dream lately where Zun released Touhou 17 "Fallen Faith" where Poor Reimu is so desperate for money she loses faith in the Hakurei god.
(Long Post Below)
Basically Reimu loses faith in Hakurei and changes her alliance to Hecatia (wears a I Love Hell shirt and makes the shrine satanic looking), so the Hakurei god sends the playable character you pick to find Reimu and make her change her mind. Hakurei suspects Clownpiece is responsible and likely brain washed Reimu using the torch of insanity, so you have to eventually go under the Hakurei shrine into Clownpiece's home and find a tunnel leading to Hell, where you have to fight Hecatia and Clownpiece on steroids (buffed due to being surrounded by her nature)
In the ending, it turned out Clownpiece managed to access hell and made a ton of money selling hell blood at a stand to carnivorous folk like Remilia, Kagerou, and Rumia as "Tasty Red Juice". Reimu only changed gods to convince Clownpiece to let her join the business due to the high profit, and had nothing to do with the torch.
Holy shit. If touhou 17 is this, I will lose my fucking shit.
In the dream, everyone lost their shit, but only because Mima was a playable character (replaced Reimu)

To help her, all she needs is your credit card number, the three digits on the back, and the expiration month and year. You'll also have to donate to her shrine. But, you gotta be quick, so Reimu Hakurei can save Gensokyo and achieve the epic youkai genocide!

Honestly, the whole basis of wild and horned hermit is JUST about reimu being super poor and greedy on the surface. It is pretty much canon.

As many comments have said, poor Reimu is canon, but from what I understand, there is actually a solid reasoning behind it.
Donations would normally come from the human population, but because that specific shrine became a bit of a 'safe haven' for many types of creatures that are dangerous to humans, hardly anyone ever goes there.
This information was from the story of the mobile game Lost Word, so I don't know how canon it is, but even outside of that game, it seems to line up with existing canon.

Nah , she's just got an insane money obsession like me , except that she is just a bit too obsessed to the point of money>life , while I'm just a boy here wanting to be successful in the future so that I don't have any problems in the future , such as having a boss that wants me to do 50 things in one day , that not even 100 people together can do , having a small pay cheque (which I somewhat think should be written as paycheck) , having no time to rest and having no time to do stuff that I like (such as fishing , making stuff out of wood , playing games on computer and much more).

WaHH actually does say Reimu is poor, according to the latest chapter (Although it also states that, were it not for her laziness, she could easily get out of being poor). To quote the translated text:
"Even so, It seems as if Reimu could stay out of poverty if she kept working that hard."

Also, in PMiSS, Akyuu says that Reimu can't live from offerings and that she gains her life doing youkai extermination, but i still don't know if it's humans giving her more offerings after an incident resolution or that she steals money from the beat up youkais.
Also, in Curiosities of Lotus Asia, there are two instances of Reimu's money situation. One where she apparently buys an expensive sake that is supposed to cost her all her money and one time where Sumeriko asks if it's well paid to be a miko where Reimu respond no without clarifying how she manages to live.
Also, it makes a moment i red CoLA, So some details may not be perfectly exact

Shinto gods are not that famous but has more historical facts to it. Unlike the Buddhism and Taoism they are well known all around.
I've searched the Shinto description, they made some charms and stuff, since Reimu didn't made those, that's the reason why?

This is so heartbreaking on Reimu she had to go through. I know this is just fan stuff, but it doesn't change my opinion about her. Sure she can be greedy most of the time, but with GOOD reason! She's just trying her best support her business! And WaHH, even Kasen had to reason with Reimu, she has NO right to tell her to do her job! Times are tough around these parts and... you get the picture. BTW i'm not a crazed Reimu fan.

I somehow went to Gensokyo did not get attack by any Youkai made it to the Hekuria shine Suika was there she is more childish in real life and she gave me some of her Sake we got along very well and I super glued a 500 yen coin to the ground it turned out that glue was a test project of Merisa in short not ever Suika's could remove it Raimu was pissed that coin will forever be stick to the ground
