This is good.. classic early 80s sound to me... sounds like a Cheap Trick song. Unfortunately, the only 707 song that was ever played here in STL was I Could be Good For You It's considered a K-she 95 classic now,.. but shame on them for never playing any other 707 song
Hi Jim, I am a big fan of 707!!! I did a little research, and I found out that 707 was on the Solid Gold Show, Season 1, Episode 7, on 10/25/1980 w/ the following: Dionne (Warwick) welcomes co-host The Commodores(Heroes) and Solid Gold recording acts Pete Townsend(Let my Love Open the Door- music video), Leo Sayer (More than I can Say), John Stewart (Gold), Johnny Rivers, TG Sheppard (Do You Want to go to Heaven), and 707(I could be Good for You) & Dionne w/"Do You Know the Way to San Jose?"
Wow, Pastor Jim!. I have been listening to your sermons on podcast for 2 years now, you have been a great blessing to me. Though I almost never missed a midnight special from the mid 70's through early 80's, I never saw this one, though I do remember 707 and this song. until I found this link I never never knew you were so....cool, lol. Question, did any of your former bandmates come to faith?. Though this little trip back in time was nice for me, I sooo prefer how you now rock the Gospel.
No, James. Kevin still plays in the Bay Area. Phil is up in Detroit, playing occasionally. I pastor a church in the Nashville area. Duke passed away. And I have no idea where Andy is. So no, we don't play together anymore. It was fun while it lasted, though.
I urge people to look at Wikipedia as it will answer most of their questions even though there isn't much info there. I also highly recommend buying the 707, 2nd Album, and Megaforce albums. If you like catchy songs with good vocals that rock pretty hard, then you'll like them. The Bridge is a fine album, but not up to the other three's standards and Magic is early demos and outtakes that are just not that interesting. The later albums don't include Jim or Phil and are not that great. But the three albums I mentioned are high on my list of favorite albums.
Hey Jim, did u ever work with Twila Paris? I saw on Top Card u were also an engineer in Tn.. I'm just curious. I'm not a stalker, I promise 😂 I love her For Every Heart album.. and that song, Prince of Peace is a classic.. the notes she hits in that song.. :0
The verses of this song sound like ELO's song: "Across the Border"...which in turn sounds like Beach Boys' "Heroes and Villains" (in the verses respectively. Any thoughts?
Loved 707! Saw you play at Knott's Berry farm back in the 80's! I found the Lord or He found me! Now I only play for Him! Watch "Chasing the Wind by Inside Out (Official Music Video)" on TH-cam th-cam.com/video/aZFeND2XSTU/w-d-xo.html
I worked at the Starwood and got to see these guys from the beginning, way underrated

There's a power-pop vibe to this.
Phil works with my sister in law here in the Detroit area. He was in a cover band called Deep Cut for a long time here.
Is he on social media??

Well, as long as you promise. :-)
No, I never did work with Twila. My wife is a fan of hers, though.

@Bucseagles
I saw that same tour in Boston... Went to see REO, but I had no interest in REO, after hearing 707... They just blew me away!
Wasn't Kevin Chalfant (The Storm) in this band? Where is he?
warptek he joined afterwards when the label advised they needed a single lead vocalist.
That lead singer looks like Nigel Tuffnel of Spinal Tap
Edit to add, I didn't know that you came from a famous background, is it sinful to be impressed ?(tongue-in-cheek)
