A Northern Mudlarks video is not the same without finding a bead and a leg (with an Alex growl). You always make me smile.

😹😹the first thing that went through my head when you clinked the 2 ginger beer bottle tops together was they would make great chimney tops for a doll house.

With the curved pieces of pottery, maybe you could make a bracelet with the curved pieces being the center of the bracelet.

Oh I really love your Channel....it is so calming. And I am determined to catch a live stream too lol. The pudding dolls are adorable. And a fully intact pipe....I find it so fascinating learning about the origins and information regarding your wonderful finds. I love the tiny teapot how very cute. You both are so very sweet. How very apt and coincidental about the pot and the postcard. What a pretty pink bead I am super excited, and the glassware and pots just brilliant.

" The headless horseman/horsemen" sounds somehow like a very old regiment name (although a bit strange/weird of course). 😁 Respectively definitely like a good title for a book/movie. Even a pub with such a name would be great. Or a name for a relatively strong Whiskey. 😁 ;-) Okay, okay, maybe my fantasy is galloping...

Many years ago I lived in Virginia .
Myself & a friend scoured old documents & books on the American civil war.
We found many places where troops camped .
Some camp sites were just overnight.
Some were for longer stays , such as a chicken pox camp.
I found lots of mini balls , bits & pieces of horse harness , and even a bayonet.
Where actual large battles took place became national parks..where metal detecting earns you a free stay in jail.
But smaller skirmishes usually ended up someones farm or property present day.
Several archaelogical digs are going on at the original english colonies .
They're discovering many things including just how desperate they were..
Oddly , the first colonies landed late in the year when crops were not an option..
    Most starved to death...

I love the pudding doll!!! I have collected miniatures since i was 5 years old and im 61 now. Thats one of the cutest things i have ever seen (and i have seen alot and own alot too). I dont have any mudlarking finds or many from the UK at all. Great finds today. Also in the US there is a town and a legend called Sleepy Hollow. The story is called "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" about a headless horseman that appears every Halloween night. I'm sure you can read about it online. When you picked up the headless horseman it was the first thing I thought of.

Though these lead figures you find are always battered, I can't help but imagine them painted up as a representation of the 'folly' of war - an aftermath of the 'charge of the Light Brigade'. And sprayed with a coating of luminous paint for for a ghostly, night time glow.

Really interesting history stories you told us this week. The re uniting of the hand cream bottle and post card was a touching tribute to a family, who's name lives on again in lots of your followers heads.
The looped metal mystery object, with the hole in the end, I'm sure is a pull for a vanity draw. I think I have similar on mine, though the metal is different. Two small draws on my dressing table. I believe its Victorian. I could be wrong though, so don't be quoting me.
    I'm no expert. 😂 x

Another thought on the loop. Still made today but certainly not as ornate as in the past. The handle part to a zipper pull. Living alone or with out another person to zip a dress behind you, a length of chain with a handle loop on the end and clip on the end of chain. Clip to the zipper pull, put dress on, reach for the lengthened zipper pull, in order to zip up the zipper.

I found a pudding doll in Tasmania, Australia within 24 hours of you finding yours. Frozen Charlotte dolls are incredibly rare in Tassie. I googled that they were made in Germany from the 1850s, then in England. Production stopped in the 1920s. If this is the case, and based on where my PD was found, she is over a hundred years old. She has been rolling around on the beach with tides for over 40 years. One can still make out her facial features and her cute little bum. She does not have her feet. My friends and I can't believe that I found it.

I have a clay marble that was my mothers, about 100 yrs old now. She said they used to color the marbles with crayons or paint. 12:19- the pull loop was likely attached to an early lamp pull chain. I have seen bell shaped ones on ceiling mounted lamps here in the U.S. dating back to the early 1900's. I would guess it was from a pretty well off house.

Eastbourne House may well still exist. There are a series of houses on Victoria Park Road identical to Eastbourne House from #74 to #80. Two still have the names above the entrance. Bucknell House, Merton House. There are two houses with no names, either never having been named or, more likely, the names disappeared during a renovation.
