Our family moved to Linthaugh Road in 1949 from a single end in Partick, I remember the fist time I saw the flat I couln't believe it, I had my own room so did my sisters and my Mum and Dad, we had a kitchen, bathroom and a big living room, it was brand new and Pollok was a great place to grow up in then, lots of fields, trees and 2 rivers and lots of fresh air, I know it got a bit of a bad name later but I left there in 1965 and moved to London, they were happy days

When I was young and we were visiting relatives on the outskirts of Glasgow I always seemed to get Partick a Pollok mixed up, the stations don't even look the same. Back then Partick Station had the bubble perspex overall roof. And they are both on opposite banks of the Clyde.
Used to go to the Secondary skool. & pollock centre back in the early 80s was where we used to go to Greg's for our 10:30am break, then R/S:Mcolls to fill our pockets wae loads a goody's. Ma cousin went to play footyDormanside many, many years ago & after the match the whole team got slashed in The 9:58 Dormanside Arms even the manager got a sword down the back of his suit, all over a Pint 🤣 bar that had good pals in Nitshill that sadly died in a car crash in Spain. To pals in Darnley cos a came from Thornliebank please do thornliebank & kennishesd ave love your class videos , my auld man had 2- hackneys on the go years ago then my 10:1010:10 place Silverburn from what was The Pollock Centre years ago 🤣🤣🤣

Hi Paul.Great video and driving.Just to let you know i have'na a clue where you are going.I'm not from Glasgow, but have been many times.I'm just up the road from you in Dundee.lol.Its good to see a different city and you know your way round all the different areas. But some of those roads zig zagging to stop motorists from speeding. And i'm no gonna mention those cars.haha.You take care and keep safe.x
You had me lost until you hit Dormanside Road. We moved to Corkerhill in 1947-48 and Dside road was right across the river Cart from us . I remember the Dog& Cat home wae Crookston castle just further down the river and the big Catholic Church wae the Massive cross and Jesus in the front yard ,just up from the "Half Way Shops" on Paisley Road West. Not a bad memory for an 8 year old. Not forgetting on our side of the river ,the Cinder laid football pitches. Pollock looks really run down ,certainly not a tourist attraction.🏴🏴☠
My parents and family moved to Pollok June 1949. Went to Berrynowes school until Leithland Road School was built. Also went to Crookston Castle School 1956/1959. Lived in Beltrees Crescent.
Wish I’d known mate I live on Leithland road 😂that cycle lane is a disgrace on the brockburn road ambulances can’t get up it at rush hour! Chaos at best
In the bad old days you would never attempt to drive through Pollok wearing and England football shirt or with a English flag sticker on your car unless you had had all your car doors welded shut 😶
