as a local toyhouse commissions artist I can confirm this is 100% accurate and I'm currently waiting for 1/3 of my new following to leave after they realize they didn't win my raffle i just ended
3:42 i once had a commission where someone asked me to draw an oc and i accepted it and one day later they were like "btw i forgot to mention this detail" but i already finished the art just earlier so i told them "but i already just finished the commission"
As a freelance artist as well, I hate when I’m commissioning another freelance artist and they just, never send wips, then refuse to fix mistakes they made because of it? I’ve never understood this as I always ask for wips when possible, it confuses me so much especially when it’s like a lot of money
I loveeee this type of video styled you tried! All the little character animations look so good and ofc the topic was funny in the painfully relatable kind of way xD
another experience i had is when people might have confusing requests one time someone sent me 3 ocs and asked me "turn the first two into the third one" and i was really confused being like w h a t so we had to chat for a while until i understood what they actually meant or another example is when someone else sent me 2 ocs to draw but they looked identical so i thought they sent 2 references of the same oc lol thankfully i havent experienced yet the more annoying things a lot of artists experience :D
I've never had any commissions so i really wanna know what others reaction would be if the people who commissioned you already drew out a sketch for you of what they want like How would you react to that? Cuz i see alot of people who gets annoyed at that
i personally dont mind... ive had people sketch me a pose reference and as long as they dont expect me to use the same style of it it doesnt bother me id say just ask first if theyd be ok w it and then draw it, since its subjective i suppose
its actually crazy these things fr happen like im not kidding when i say id estimate a solid 60% of the time one of these things happen when i get commissioned
STOPP THE TOYHOUSE WATERMARK ACTUALLY DRIVES ME SO CRAZYYYY i understand wanting to protect your art but maybe save an unwatermarked version that u send to artists directly bc i cant draw ur character if i cant SEE it....
@@Qwizz thanks for clarifying, its kinda funny because that’s all I think about with your main oc Xd. Btw Devil May cry is a video game franchise by Capcom if your curious
relatable, even tho i dont get comissions myself but its relatable, mostly becasue people started reaching out for me because they wanted me to comission them XD or complain they dont get comissions under art what I tagged other people at because they dont realize it was an art ttrade even when I mentioned it XD. theese videos really either cheer me up, relatable or informative. Keep making them, but don't forget to have fun in the process.
Omg this is so so accurate! My comms have been so nice so far but I've had clients that rushed me which stressed me out Also also your art and OCs are legit so cute I'd love to commission you!!!
I love it. I haven't done a commission before and even I have a wild story where someone tried to commission me to write music for a revolution in some unspecified country. He tried to "pay" me with future credit for helping the revolution "when" it succeeded. I don't know what list I'd be on if I had accepted, but I don't think I want to know. 😂
LMAOOO YOU SOUND LIKE YOU'RE ON THE VERGE OF TEARS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VIDEO FHGJHDJFHJGH edit: this video is the reason I'm probably never gonna do commission work lol
As someone who commissioned one piece of art (my pfp), I had an interesting experience. I spent maybe 2 days trying to find the right artist, a week before I got the courage to ask for a commission, and when I finally did I told him the details, he said he would get a sketch ASAP,, gave me a link to the queue... and it too a week to get a sketch (I thought about pinging him, but I decided not too). After the sketch it took maybe 30 minutes of back and forth before it was done (I did leave a tip). I though about commissioning more art, but without any good way of showing it off I just don't feel like it.
a week is actually *very* fast for a commission to be completed! and the fact that they finished in the same day of sending you the sketch is even more impressive! art takes time...a lot of artists have school or full time jobs and they dont always have time to work on their commissions within a few days of it being ordered. they communicated w u a lot, they sent you a link to their queue, they were very professional in this situation you're describing and from what im reading, they didnt do anything wrong.. artists typically take much longer than a week with their commissions.
@@subanarkasap implies as soon as possible, again if they have school/a full time job they could have been waiting for the next weekend or for when they had time to work on the commission. i know that myself and many other artists like to wait until they have a quiet time to draw to minimize distractions and to be able to fully focus, meaning if i have homework to do i like to prioritize that and work on my commissions after im done so im not too stressed out and can efficiently talk w my client and take as much time as i need :3
It was just a minor miscommunication. I'm pretty sure the reason for the delay was getting the commissions done from people in front of me in the line.@@Qwizz
as an artist, this is PAINFULLY relatable T-T
Jumpscared by my own voice right off the bat. Great video though I like the key clicking. Makes me want to eat a keyboard
