Thank you, Shoji for being neutral and clear about the Krick incident. Also, if you watch closely throughout the game, France players were no less at fault than Krick- they were also staring down at him. (For eg, look at 7:45 ) Giving red card was unfair at that time- I have no shame in saying that they were robbed.
Ngapeth was getting away with the equivalent of murder the entire game. Don't think the red card made a difference in the end, but had the ref applied the same rules to France in the prior two sets, I don't think there would have been a 5th.
German fans are still mad about this one
Germans were robbed.
im mad and im not even German Fan lol i dont like injustice
"injustice"😂
I have been seething every single day
I don't think Germany would have won the match but the red card was a joke. Too many service errors in the end...
Agree that Clevenot was the actual MVP - he played lights out whenever he was on court. Looked like the best player in the world for that week or so
For Théo FAURE, it's like "four" or "for" in english :)
Glad to see you back on TH-cam with these analysis ♥
Bro I wanna see some more videos of number 14 on Germany I think his name is karlitzech he's a beast
great video erik. greetings from brazil!!
Wow the camera was shaking in this one... Nice break down as always!!! Thanks! It looks like a lot of the misunderstanding with the red card has to do with the broadcast not showing the one card already given out in the set (and also Ngapeth got carded as well but that wasn't shown either). But still, a red card was too much. It not only disturbed Germany's mindset but it seemed to disturb France's flow as well. It was such an entertaining game up till then. I personally liked the end of Set 2 the best - some awesome plays there.
9:37 yellow card I believe was given in the earlier sets already so that wasn't an option. Was still unfair that France didn't get one for doing the same stuff. It was basically just a staring contest between Ngapeth and Krick the entire game.
Ngapeth was carded in the 4th set for the same thing, but that wasn't shown either. The ref really enjoyed giving out cards in this match, but the broadcast did not want to show any until it affected the scoreboard.
Because of the given yellow cards before, you should give yellow/red for disqualifikation. So the point is not away and you do a less impact on the game. On that way it was the kill for germany.
@ Nope those are not the rules, since he didn't do anything worthy of a yellow and red card.
Love the videos erik!
red card against tobias was a scandal. I dont think they would have show a red card If the opponent werent France. Host privilages.
lol that also works with Poland who's the host of so many competitions and never got any trouble with players like Kurek, Kubiak or more recently Fornal who always stares through the net
@@MochiVornor this lol Fornal is notorious for starting. I understand its a high level competitive game
fact
In fact I don't recall any such incident in any important tournament (WCh, Olympics). To show red in the end of the decider is ridiculous. Outright robbery.
Just for context, Germany had already gotten a yellow card earlier. So, the ref couldn't simply give Tobias a yellow, since it`s against the rules. Also, he had already warned him a few times in the last 4 sets. I do agree that the red card is a bit too much in that situation, but I don't think we can blame the ref, but rather the way the rules are made. I think it's kind of ridiculus to only allow one yellow for then entire team in the entire match... Especially in those kind of games where things can get heated between the players... Something to think about for the FIVB!
true that my friend
Yeah in a 5. set is pretty harsh because ngapet did the same and did not get any card for it. Also in the 4 set where brehme tips the ball over he is giving a holding fault but france who did it very often in the game didnt got any faults for that. So this is not a strict line and thats what the germans are angry about
I remember seeing Kampa’s yellow between sets on the play by play doc, but can’t seem to access it now. IIRC France also got a yellow (for Ngapeth), but I can’t confirm that without looking at the play by play
@@selenuntius yes, I'm pretty certain both team got a yellow card somewhere near the end of the 3rd set if I'm not mistaken.
since the rules cant be changed mid-game, i still think the ref should be more considerate about the implications of a red card in an olympic game. you hardly ever see red cards in international or club volleyball.
Red card was wild imo. Fornal from Poland stares all the time and never even got a warning
Thank you Erik, you’re amazing!!!
Keep it up shoji bro . Post olympic video more .brazil vs usa👍
would love to see some reactions to the long beach games rn
What does it mean when he says angle out in reception?
French here, you pronounce FAURE like FOR ☺️
I wonder if these videos are available for people to watch or if only Erik has access to them as part of scouting report
Some Matches are online on TH-cam
mmg volley videos has a lot of them
Love how you are hyping up your colleagues ❤
The red card will be one of the most stupid calls ever! ESPECIALLY when Ngapeth is on the other side of the net who is doing similar actions aaaall the time and gets away with it. So undeserving.
Cry about it
You're wrong, there was a yellow card for France too.
As a french guy, i love my team and will always support them but sometimes i find them rude and provocative for no reason. They are such nice guys in real life but on the court they behave like thugs, sometimes against teams who do not deserve this (for example i hated how Tillie and Le Goff behaved with Ishikawa during the VNL final)
But i have to say that Krick also deserved it, he made multiple provocations towards Ngapeth and kept going until the ref gave him a red card. I do also have to say it's ruthless to give a red in a tie-break but i guess it's the way it is
I think it's just part of France's mental game. They are so respectful off court - I've never heard them talk smack about anyone, always praising other teams and other players, win or lose. I think they just like to get in your heads on court. It's a different energy they're bring in the game, and because volleyball is still a GAME, as long as they are playing within rules, I can't hate it.
@@YingjiaWan-k8u FACTS. Mental game is part of almost every sport. If bantering puts people off their game, then that's on them. Taunting is also a common technique in combat sports to bait people in.
Secondly, as a volleyball player and previously a wrestler, there are times, in the heat of the moment (especially with a lot of testosterone build up), I just make aggressive facial emotions, body language and start talking shit. It's hard to control your emotions sometimes (if you ever had roof blocked someone stronger, bigger/taller than you, it's an amazing feeling - take Tsukishima for example ;)). And as long as your off the court, and shake hands and no bad blood, its all good.
@ Yes, I think it is particularly true with France, who aren't a very physical team. They play in Europe where there are a lot of teams that are just physically intimidating, and as a smaller team that only came to Tier 1 within this generation, they sort of developed this underdog attitude/gang energy that seems to always work in favor of them. Maybe it's bit much against a smaller (and also very respectful) team like Japan, but it's such a part of their identity I don't think they can just turn it off at a VNL final...
@@YingjiaWan-k8u I don't entirely agree with this. The Ngapeth/Le Goff/Grebe generation developed this attitude even before coming onto the scene. When they arrived in the national team there were a lot of tensions with the previous generation because basically they were like "you had your time. this our team now". Ngapeth even was expelled from the team by the coach during world championships in 2010 because fights between players had gotten so bad.
They always had this insolent underdog attitude. The disdain they felt from other teams fueled it but it was always there to begin with.
@@osabro9499Yes thats what i meant! They seemed to have that underdog energy from the beginning. You hate us but you can’t get rid of us. But I only started following in 2020 and learned more about their path in a retrospective fashion, so I’m sure you know more as someone who watched them grow.
React to poland vs brazil
Germany got robbed.
The france bias at olympics was horrible. Same in the basketball match were France faced Japan and France randomly got free throws for a foul which wasn't even close to a foul to make it into overtime.
I love the video but Don’t show your face after every point
France only won because of this red card ggs to the 7th france player sitting in the chair
lol
tobias deserved that red card so much. any provocative glare should be sanctioned severely and unmercifully, especially in the final set.
it isnt about the punishment in my opinion, but about the double standards. Earlier, France tipped a lot, in a way that would have often been called a lift. When brehme does it on set point france, it suddenly is a lift. The same for the starring, the french players did that as well really often, and didn't receive a red card. In my opinion if you were to treat everyone equally, then krick wouldn't have "deserved that red card so much", because it would have to go both ways
a) stares shouldn't be sanctioned at all. The rule is just silly. b) if the rule was applied consistently, neither Ngapeth nor the entirety of the Polish team would ever finish the first set.
Oh dear - he was only looking, not even saying anything. Big bad 7ft middle is too scary for the opponent? I have seen players shouting at each other, the ref, the opponent or even the audience without even getting a tip off from the ref. There is so much double standard going around in the vb rulebook and that really sucks.
French players (especially Ngapeth) were doing the exact same thing the entire game and only got yellow? Which I am still not sure was for the staring or sth else. It‘s sports, it needs emotions. I‘ve been doing this for the past 20 years - but the open hands for refs hasn’t changed one bit 🤷🏼♀️
szkoda że opuszczasz Kędzierzyn. ale dobrze że zostajesz w Polsce.
