Thanks guys! Just something different. Jonathan Young has a huge subscriber base because he does some great metal covers. He was in Dan Vasc’s I’ll Make a Man Out Of You as one of the guest spots. He’s a lot of fun. To be clear I never said this was a metal version. I may have said Jonathan is a metal singer, which he is but like Dan Vasc not every song he does is a metal cover.
The gentlemen joining Jonathan are Bobby Waters (bobbybass) and Colm McGuiness-they are all basses. Bobby is a member of The Wellermen and The Bass Gang. Colm does all types of music, including Irish music and modern music done in Irish and Norse. I am very partial to The Bass Gang! And, it was great fun watching your faces when they those hit low notes (they can all go lower).
Jonathan Young is more known for his metal covers, but this is a solid song. Bobby Bass has a bigger following on TikTok, and is a member of a few acapella groups, The Wellerman, and The Bass Gang. Colm McGuinness has a smaller followijg, but covers a wide range of stuff, from Irish folk songs to heavy metal covers, and some of his own original content. His range is crazy, he is very much a tenor with the ability to push out those low notes with an over-darkening technique that seems to be primarily his own.
Thanks Jamie M for the suggestion. Great voices. I've always had a soft spot for the bass lines. Reminded me somewhat of the same song done by Voiceplay. Geoff Castellucci sang the bass in that one. Great reaction guys.- Hawk
If you liked this video you might also check out Johnathan Young's Hellfire video or even his Phantom of the Opera video. I highly recommend his "The Sound of Silence" cover as well
Well, I was like you guys, and thought this was going to be Metalized at some point. Sounded like the canons were slowly rusting instead!. I am wondering if the equipment truck with all of the guitars and drums had a problem on the road to the video shoot, and the singers had to go to plan B or C !! That said, if this WAS Plan A, the singing was insanely good, LOW and SLOW. I only know Jonathan from his 5 second part in Dan Vasc's "I'll Make A Man Out Of You", so this was a shock as well. Finally, I am taking a Viking Cruise in October in Europe and I pray that the music on board is a bit livelier than this was. Looking for a lot of dancing, not a funeral procession. Just saying!! ☻ 🖤 I think you owe me a Dan Vasc Reaction sometime soon ❣😉
Good suggestion Jamie M! I really like this guy! However, I think that this particular cover was missing something, like more instruments, just to break it up a bit. But still good. 😉

Y’all should do the Bobby bass and the bass singers of tiktok version, very great!

Colm's voice is so unique 😂. The way it's so high but the can go so low too is incredible. The irish accent mix with it is beautiful
I do love this song so much but it is definitely not metal. You should absolutely check out his cover of "Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Death Metal is when they yell in gibberish.
Excellent vocals but much different from Helldivers 2 video game metal song!!!

His cover of "Final Countdown" is top notch, and to be fair, probably a little better than this one. But I still enjoyed this one.
These guys are all bass singers and can really sing this low there's no vocal effects on it there just that good.

Bass singers of tik tok version will give you chills
🥴 ⬅️⬅️⬅️ literally my face throughout this 🤣🤣🤣
I want to like it (because it's pirate-y), but alas, I don't 😂😂😂
I wonder why Jonathan chose to use CGI? I hate it.
That makes my throat and voice hurt.😅.
Even Barry White would have his mouth agape listening to this.😮
Very interesting but not heavy metal.
Not a fan at all. No harmonies or anything. The depth of his voice is something I cant listen to for the whole song. Pretty boring actually.
