Fact: When Ichiro was playing in Japan, the Japanese league played 30 fewer games per year than MLB. In fact, Ichiro has only hit over 200 once in his nine years in Japan, but he has hit over 200 in MLB ten times, including an insane record of 262. My opinion: If he had been in MLB since his professional debut, he would have surpassed Pete Rose in all time hit record with ease.
@@austinluszcz1426 Why not, MLB is not the only professional baseball league in the world. Its like saying Cristiano Ronaldo should not score 777 goals because it come from different leagues, some weaker than the others.

i will say this, considering he kept himself healthy for a long as he did and extended his mlb career for as long as he could, the last 5 season kinda put a kink in his otherwise outstanding HoF career but IMO he still falls behind Tony Gwynn as the best pure hitter the game has seen since Ted Williams, and for sure the best hitter since TG retired .But If TG could have kept himself healthier throughout his career (he only avg 122 games played over his 20 yr career) he for sure wouldve eclipsed Pete Rose's all time mlb record.
I consider him the greatest hitter of all time. Japan may not be as strong as MLB but I bet 60% of his hits in Japan would have translated to MLB success.
If we take only his hits in the mlb, extract an average from his entire tenure in the mlb for per season hits (which isn’t fair to him obviously, given that he declined late into his career and we’ll say he played in the 2019 season even though he appeared only up until the end of March) and then we say he’d hit at 50% of that average for those theoretical 7 years because he was still building up his skills or something, we can estimate a very conservative 3658 hits. That’s good for 4th all time for hits in the mlb. Ichiro is, if we stack everything possible against him, the fourth best hitter in mlb history.

duelinthis Who the hell competes with him? He holds 3 mlb records, has 10 gold gloves and the only reason he isn't the all-time hit leader is because he debuted at 28. He averaged more hits per season than Pete.

And play the game quite well he did. It was an honor to watch that man. Grew up watching him as a kid I would model my batters stance after him.
That's nothing, he did that all the time. Infield hits were his middle name. He was a extremely fast base runner, that's how he got over four hundred stolen bases.

First ballot no doubt. There's no controversy there. But I think he'll get over 90% of the vote aswell. Absolutely outstanding career. The best overall (excluding power) hitter/outfielder the mlb has ever seen. Yeah Tony Gwinn could be argued to be a better hitter, but Ichiro was a much better fielder with an absolute CANON of an arm. Better hitter than Rose. Better player than Gwinn. The fact that he was able to even stand out like he did in the steroid era and be a dominant leadoff hitter for 10 straight years, that's unreal.
Just over 262 hits ! This record will be exist for a long time in MLB .And continuous ten times of over 200 hits is also the record in MLB. Ichiro was the most greatest player in MLB. I never see like this player as Ichiro, and he enjoyed to play baseball all the time in his career, I'm sure.
No matter what the stats are, he is a legend and his legacy will live on. Undoubtably one of the players to play the game especially after being able to stay healthy for so long. I also have to say that many people don’t count his professional career in Japan. Whether they like it or not, it should count. He has achieved more milestones than any other player.
One of the best to ever do it. Played with class and discipline rarely seen today in team sports. Never involved in any scandal or controversy on and off the field. Most importantly played the game how it should be played, with respect. Will never see another like him. I'm just glad I was able to see him play in my lifetime.
In 2001, Ichiro Suzuki is AL MVP, Mariners MVP, MLB Players Choice AL Outstanding Rookie, AL Rookie of the Year, AL Silver Slugger, Rawlings AL Gold Glove, Hits 1st in AL, Batting Average 1st in AL, Stolen Bases 1st in AL. You can use walk , sb, to create one run. In 26 years, you only have 2 chances in DL,and so on.
Just imagine if he would’ve came to MLB when he was in his early 20s. He’d be the all time leader in hits. Counting his career in Japan, he has more hits than anyone on the history of baseball.
The way that he could hit the ball into any hole in the outfield at will was insane. He could really hit the ball wherever he wanted to. True majic...and he can pitch?
My God Ichiro was so good! Idk If anyone got the chance to watch him hit batting practice before a game, but he used to hit monster HRs like it was nothing!! He was amazing!
What a hitting machine, fast runner, and dude had a canon too. One of baseball best and a great guy. Was fun to watch play. Real class act. Great video
I was at the "Spider-Man Catch" game. Sitting in the left field bleachers right next to center field. I knew he was good. But I was in total shock and amazement. He jumped, planted his foot on the wall, turned around, and catch the ball just with his glove. Just wow.
Oh god… I just started watching baseball in 2022 and lm so mad at myself for not watching sooner. Missed out on watching ichiro live just a few years prior

Solid argument to be made that he's the best to ever do it
It was painful to watch Ichiro as a Yankee, but I’m glad he got to continue him amazing career.
BEST BASEBALL PLAYER EVER!!
If I were those Phillie's players I'd be bragging like none other that I got a hit off of Ichiro hahah
From a die hard Astros fan....you are an amazing talent.....THANK YOU ICHIRO
Was an honor being able to see this man play the game
Ichiro is one of the greatest players in baseball history, not only MLB... in world's baseball history!
one of the best ball players of all time
Thank you Ichiro! Watching you play was an absolute honor. You played the game with such dedication and class. I will really miss seeing you on the field. Good luck to you buddy!
아! 마츠이, 이치로, 오타니...야구계의 보배다. 지금도 마츠이, 이치로의 경기가 그립다.
呉昇桓!
This man is the sole reason I have been an Aussie Mariners fan for over 20 years
Most MLB fans may not be aware but Ichiro Suzuki is one name as common as John Smith in the U.S.
I miss this dude so much, he was always half way to first by the time he finished his swing
He is a for sere a hall of famer amazing baseball player.
not first ballot tho
duelinthis definitely first ballot look in the description 10 gold gloves??
duelinthis Who the hell competes with him? He holds 3 mlb records, has 10 gold gloves and the only reason he isn't the all-time hit leader is because he debuted at 28. He averaged more hits per season than Pete.
I love Ichiro’ humanity and humility. An embodiment of japanese’ nature, culture and nurture
Something I've always admired about Ichiro was his humility. I don't think I've ever seen him showboat or do anything unnecessary. All he ever did was play the game. And play the game quite well he did. It was an honor to watch that man. Grew up watching him as a kid I would model my batters stance after him.
Thanks Ichiro you were the best player in MLB
I'll never forget the first time I saw him play, in the All-Star Game, when he outran that GROUNDER TO FIRST BASE.
That's nothing, he did that all the time. Infield hits were his middle name. He was a extremely fast base runner, that's how he got over four hundred stolen bases.
ringtones
I had the pleasure of seeing him live when I was on vacation in St. Petersburg, Florida with some friends. It was a Rays vs. Mariners game. One of the greatest offense and defense baseball players of all time.
Ichiro one of the greatest baseball players of all time
The greatest hitter to ever player to ever play baseball
The best baseball hitter
Ted Williams and Babe Ruth and Henry Aaron and Willie Mays and a bunch of other guys were better hitters.
hahahahahahahahha......next time instead of guessing, read the averages
Ted Williams Babe Ruth Hank Aaron Willie Mays Barry Bonds Ty Cobb Lou Gehrig
S.Musial Tris Speaker Hornsby Honus Wagner A-Rod Bench
A.Pujols Ken Griffey Jr Foxx Mantle Schmidt Pete Rose DiMaggio Mathews
Rickey Henderson Cal Ripken Frank Robinson Manny Mel Ott
還有太多人 都比他好
@@verbty2987 no Tony gwynn? If not for the strike he had .400.
jeffw1267 babe Ruth is overrated
First ballot no doubt. There's no controversy there. But I think he'll get over 90% of the vote aswell. Absolutely outstanding career. The best overall (excluding power) hitter/outfielder the mlb has ever seen. Yeah Tony Gwinn could be argued to be a better hitter, but Ichiro was a much better fielder with an absolute CANON of an arm. Better hitter than Rose. Better player than Gwinn. The fact that he was able to even stand out like he did in the steroid era and be a dominant leadoff hitter for 10 straight years, that's unreal.
He should get all of the votes, if theres a writer that doesnt vote him in on their ballot they should never write about baseball ever again.
I am hardly a real baseball fan. Casual at best.
But if Ichiro isn't a UNANIMOUS HOFer, I'm gonna get pissed.
Just over 262 hits ! This record will be exist for a long time in MLB .And continuous ten times of over 200 hits is also the record
in MLB. Ichiro was the most greatest player in MLB. I never see like this player as Ichiro, and he enjoyed to play baseball all the
time in his career, I'm sure.
Doesn’t matter what team he played for, you couldn’t stop respecting him
No matter what the stats are, he is a legend and his legacy will live on.
Imagine him playing with this year’s team (2024)! Gosh, it would be a power house of pitching and offensive bating!!! 🔥
He caught a homer right next to us once, he apologized profusely for needing to throw it back and tossed us a ball in the next inning
In the interview, Ichiro said it would be difficult to reach the record for the most hits of the year, even if he went back to the past.
That's really wholesome of him
I'll Take Ichiro from 26 - 36 years old over Rose 26 - 36 years old all day. One of the best to ever play.
Reacher
Honestly, he's my all time go to for a clutch walk off hit, it's either him or Edgar Martinez. Both guys have actual ice in their vines.
I'll take rose and all his rings...winner wherever he went
For me, greatest all around player in history
The fact that people think Ichiro is even the best player of his era kinda proves that people don't know shit about baseball
ichiro was terrific, but come on. mays, bonds, wagner, cobb, griffey, hornsby, a-rod, musial, dimaggio, ted williams...
i see u guys are going for the steriod slugger...
@@JonahLoeb steroid😂
He was the greatest hitter from Asia
Great respect from Korea
i love Ichiro and a person who like Ichiro.
Ichiro and Matsui... my two favorite Japanese players.
I don't understand how anyone can dislike. He played the game to the purest form and he is always humble.
One of the most underrated players in baseball, if you can even say that. Dude is a legend and will never be replicated
What a hitting machine, fast runner, and dude had a canon too. One of baseball best and a great guy. Was fun to watch play. Real class act. Great video
Best all around player of all time. Such a great professional. Never has there been a more obvious hall of famer.
One the the best outfielders and hitters of all time!
I was at the "Spider-Man Catch" game. Sitting in the left field bleachers right next to center field. I knew he was good. But I was in total shock and amazement. He jumped, planted his foot on the wall, turned around, and catch the ball just with his glove. Just wow.
This is so cool
Oh god… I just started watching baseball in 2022 and lm so mad at myself for not watching sooner. Missed out on watching ichiro live just a few years prior
One of the best baseball players of all time, ambassador to the game, will be missed - well deserved retirement
Got to see Ichiro hit an inside the park home run at the 2007 all star game in San Francisco in person. Amazing player.
When he first started playing in MLB, he experienced a lot of discrimination and was often told to go back to Japan. That's why he heard that he made a tremendous effort to get back on track with his ability.
