    📜 Video Description 📜
Many of us fondly remember the days when PokerStars was by far the best place to play online poker. Games were full of recreational players and tough regs alike and sponsored pros included people like Daniel Negreanu. These days the cash game lobbies often look like ma barren wasteland. In this video I jump into 200 ZOOM in the morning hours to find a tiny pool mostly occupied by tough regs. Nevertheless, we do battle and analyse some of the most interesting spots.

Its not so much the stars problem, its the zoom format problem. What initially was meant to be a rec friendly mode became the very opposite of it. It makes the pros edge way more apparent, it heavily incentivizes the boring tag style, and recs want none of that.

But I thought mass multitabling and high rakeback was bad for the games... That's what they said in 2+2 and other places. They must be happy with the limit of 4 tables, and now there aren't almost any tables running on NL500 and NL1k. Just because some people are good at playing a card game doesn't mean they understand anything about markets or liquidity.

I quit poker completely couple of months ago, despite being a slight winner on 100NL R&C. Dont think its a good idea to try to play professionally in todays games unless you live in a country where 1-2k a month makes you a king or you are willing to sacrifice your life to studying and climb to high stakes (and still have 1-2 year losing or break even streaks due to variance). Its better to make money in other ways and play a live tournament from time to time as a rec if you really like the game (as i do).

If you have the raw brainpower to crush despite these challenges, you might as well use that powerful brain of yours to make $500k/year writing code for one of the big tech firms. GG has *awful* optimization and pushes $5,000+ computers to their graphical limits at times in spite of being an otherwise very simple application. It also hasn't been fundamentally updated and overhauled since its inception, and we all know about how vulnerable GG's back-end is by now. Not to mention the PVI traps on the site which turn the mystery bounties and other jackpot-based systems into a pay-to-win scheme, which is essentially rigged poker in a nutshell. So, let's not go around singing GG's praises now. Online poker software has simply been shit for 25 years since Planet Poker was founded, and that particular caveat has never really been fully resolved up to this day. My theory is actually that this level of incompetence amongst all online poker operators as a whole is why you still haven't seen any major countries make any real efforts to fully regulate online poker since Black Monday occurred more than 14 years ago.

They don't. The number they put on the client doesn't come close to what actual "poker" player numbers are. They might represent actual players logged in, many of whom might be in the casino.
For evidence, now they have 360000 people playing, according to them.
There are about "4000" playing rush and cash, If you ignore 1c2c and 2c5c there are 1/2 that amount.
So, from 360000, only around 1% are playing rush and cash?
You will find roughly the same number playing hold'em.
So, lets say 10000 out of 360000 are playing poker, and in reality, many are multi tabling so it is probably closer to 5000 than 10000.
Obviously many are playing tournaments. Many tournament payers are also playing cash games.

If that was the case that they did show people on Casino in the lobby, then it would be well over 150k because Casino on Pokerstars is actually very popular. And then you have all the Americans playing on play money aswell. GG combine all of this. GG show numbers for everyone logged onto their client, other pokersites do not do this.

All online cash games are infested with collusion and multi account players. You're better off just playing tournaments with enough players in the pool that all the various groups trying to collude are likely to be too split up to do any damage.
I also encourage people to understand the way people collude in online tournaments as you can use to your advantage. For example, they will often fold to squeezes when they open and call each other to see a flop 2 handed or 2 on 1 if it's three way. The smarter ones will try to bait you to squeeze, in that case, just see the flops with random ass defends and try to cooler their overpairs.

In like two weeks I won´t be able to play on PokerStars, since they are closing in my country, so I am forced to change the platform. But I feel like this could be a good idea anyway, because like Pete has said, the competition is quite tough.
I play NL25 regular tables. I need to brutally table select on 6-max. Like 80% of tables is just LAG´s and TAG´s battling each other. The remaining 20% is me, mostly 1 passive fish, 3 LAG´s and 1 TAG and that is still very tough table to play.
Full Ring is different though. You get like 1 or 2 fishes, 3 nits, 3 TAG´s and 1 LAG on those tables. And that is a completely different game. But the game is slow when you can play only 4 tables on PS.
I am honestly interested how much of a softer pool iPoker has, because that where I will be forced to play next 😅

What do you think to start from small cb to force our opp to defend wider range vs small bet otf, and the polarize ourself on the turn?

In these positions BB doesn't have a 2X advantage. BB isn't defending K2s, Q2s or 52s against LJ/HJ and against this sizing. BB only has A2s that we have too and he is going to 3bet some of the time
Plus against HJ Vilain is going to 3bet JJ+ close to pure, so he is likely capped to JX, the perfect spot to apply max pressure when you have 12 combos of AJ + 18 combos of QQ+
Not saying that you can't bet small flop and over bet bigger turn and or river or anything, but I'm pretty sure that you want to get to shove river in some way at a high frequency here

No offence but it’s hard to watch your videos when you constantly make rookie mistakes yourself but complain how tough the games are
On that first hand you say a big raise would be used, every 200 reg should know you want to raise 50% pot tops because of tied nut advantage
Then you appear to always barrel the turn - highly exploitable, you need to check flush draws often
Then on the river say it might be ok to shove 87?? Absolutely atrocious
You only find the games tough because you are way below 200z reg level. Maybe actually get good at poker before trying to teach it

I work a full time job and only play an hour or two in the evenings and then a few hours at weekends yet I’ve made over 3k in profit so far this year. I play on party poker at NL25 and NL50 regular tables and then 25 fast forward and they are all full of terrible players. Even the regs are not that good and don’t have pre flop nailed down. My win rate is crazy good just exploit exploit exploit, so I can overcome the high rake with that plus rakeback and sign up deals etc. I am from the UK so not sure if the deals are as good worldwide.

I get it when the A blocks some combos for the nut flush etc. but in cases like this, why is the Ace blocking? Yes its one less Ace in the deck so it reduces the probability a tiny bit of villain having one. But how much does this matter? I mean we try to play cards with good kickers for a reason. Because the other person easily has the better Ace, King whatever. According to this "blocker logic" this would be a far lesser concern. Maybe someone can get me on the right track on this one :) Nice Video btw!

If you want to take an optimistic view, the focus shouldn’t be on the winning players. It should be on getting more losing players through the door. Put asses in seats. Brute force marketing rather than technical adjustments.
Here’s 2 quick stories from the online boom days.
Mid-2000’s, I’m home from school for the summer. I’m at a friend’s house, a bunch of us are pre-gaming getting ready for a night out at the bars. I notice my friend is glued to his computer screen playing on Party Poker. I’m sweating him, and he’s just all over the place poker-wise. Totally nonsensical. I can see that a quick 20m coaching session could make a huge difference for him. I get about 90 seconds in, and he says “Dude, I DGAF about any of this stuff. Every Friday night, I put 500 bucks on the site. Any time I double my money, I double the stakes. When the money’s gone, the money’s gone”
Later that week, I run into a separate old friend. He tells me he had a bad weekend. He went on a losing streak on Party Poker, and kept depositing over and over and now his bank account balance was -7k.
It occurred to me that this is why the games were so good. For every player that took the game seriously and actually tried to win, there were probably 10 that just treated it like an entertaining night of degeneracy at the craps table.
