This was back when music was real - laugh all you want at the 70’s, but music-wise there were SO MANY options available depending on what style you liked, each category had a multitude of individual artists and groups. Zeppelin to Neil Young, War to Al Green, Joni Mitchell to CSN. I lived it and I am very fortunate.
My granddaughter asked me just the other day what was my favorite decade....hands down the 70's and a big part of that was the great music that was such a big part of my life. Happy times indeed.
as a white growing ,up in the 70s,before fm came along, used to watch soul train and american bandstand all the time.RnB and motown ,ruled the airwaves.many years have since passed.Thank you for posting this
One thing I really love about war is that they had several guys who lead sang vocals. Having multiple lead vocalists is one of the best things that a band/group can do for longevity.
Seriously jamming! Remember early school days in the seventies, inner city, close to East La. Looked like 5,000 kids on the playground . Tar and concrete and just about every race under the sun. Scared the shit out of me at 6 years old . Come to find out after all the testing , and people decided you were alright. It was cool. Good memories and vibes.
My aunt that I lived with had this on a greatest hits 8 track..it had a lot of different bands on it. This was my favorite of all of the songs. Back around 1973 I'd listen to this song over and over..An 8 year old white kid loving the band War..I saw them in the mid 1980s along with the band "Rare Earth" at The Channel in Boston, MA...both bands kicked a$$.
War tocando en vivo, excelente grupo, está canción es una joya de la música del alma, no me canso de escucharla, gracias por compartirla. Saludos desde Costa Rica.
Eric Burdon was missed. The machine and the Latin-tinged groove central called "WAR" was here in their essence. This is pure and downright funk from the seventies!!!!
I was young but grew up on this music. I thank my older brother and one of my uncles . Unless u knows the rules of music u can’t truly break the rules and create ur own genre . This band was such an inspiration to many . 70s was an incredible era in music ! Musicians took chances . If u sold albums u sold . It was about the music not the machine !
BCK WHEN BLK PPL LOVED WHO WE WERE! LOVED BLK NOW ALOT IF OUR PPL ARE FULL OF SELFHATE AND STOLKHOLM SYNDROME AMERIKKKA HAS DONE A JOB ON GODS CHOSEN PPL! BLK UNITY
The highest honor you can get on SOUL TRAIN; playing LIVE.
I'm a white guy that watched it every Saturday morning👍
It didn’t happen often

2024
I’ll be 40 soon and grew up listening to so much because of my dad.. just here reminiscing looking up songs.. wow what a time
What I like about this the most is that they're actually playing live and not lip-syncing now that's true artistry
Folks, this is live! A stage full of very talented brothers!
Their all brothers?
Right on ,other people don't understand
Talented is an understatement!
Live, with unplugged electric guitars ?
I love R&B/Soul and Motown

70's and 80's...
Agree....omg.....
Many sample these in rap and don't know who their listening to.
My granddaughter asked me just the other day what was my favorite decade....hands down the 70's and a big part of that was the great music that was such a big part of my life. Happy times indeed.
Real "diversity" and variety....unlike today.

Not only talented musicians, but beautiful harmonies as well. Love it!
This song way before my time I'm only 17 y/o & I love this song ❤️
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame NOW !
Notice the structure, yet the free style, all with soul🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Back in the day, there was no faking it. You had to throw down on stage. Write it, play it, sing it. 👊 Heart and Soul ❤💛
War was a major player in this funk r&b music. They were on the west coast. War great name for a band. Great musicians
One thing I really love about war is that they had several guys who lead sang vocals.

Damn....they're getting down I can dig it
That bro in front going all the way in
I Dig It too Bro!
Music was good back in the 70s . Sounded good and had a message
War were without doubt one of the best and most exciting group ever. 👍🙂😀
Que coisa louca... nasci em 1988 no Brasil e estou aqui sentindo essa energia incrível.
Que época meus amigos! Que época!
Further proof... the 1970s was the GREATEST decade ever!
indeed
Best decade for music, bar none. Also, worst decade for fashion. Just saying.
You are mistaken 60s
I couldn't agree with you more!
To me, mid-1960s through the 1970s were the best.
When music was so amazing and THE TALENT was un-matched!!!

Best funkiest bunch of musicians ever...Lee Oskar on harp...greatest funk groove...timeless power 😇🙏
That little instrumental breakdown in the middle is EVERYTHING!!
I was in elementary school when War reigned. I was blown away and the tender age of eight.
I was so fortunate to see them live twice. Each time they blew me away. Incredible!
The guy with the white shirt on the dance floor is getting down!

The whole crowd is on fire.
Also the one with the red shirt with suspender has a world of his own
Miss the 70s best music of all time…back in Chicago
War has to be one of the funkiest groups ever, along with Sly & Family Stone, the Isleys, Funkadelic/Parliament, and Kool & the Gang
Don't forget KC
All the bands I grew up listening to thanks to my pops! He’s such a huge funk fan! I thank him for my great music taste.
Don't forget about EWF, Kool and The Gang, Temptations, Stylistics, The Dells!
Don’t forget Rufus! Bros. johnson!
New Jersey bands Parliament. Kool and the Gang and the Iseley brothers are nj artist

Word that's the shit
Unique and can't be beat.
These brothers are still the bomb 💣😍😇🙏🌞😎.
Very few groups actually had the
privilege to sing live on Soul train,
and War killed it.
So many great songs. This group is so slept on!
Such a tight groove. Love it to death.
War tocando en vivo, excelente grupo, está canción es una joya de la música del alma, no me canso de escucharla, gracias por compartirla.

70s magical time in some ways
Warren Macdonald in always
Do you always double post?
That unintentional synchronization of the 3 dudes in front at :11 was slick.
Eric Burdon was missed. The machine and the Latin-tinged groove central called "WAR" was here in their essence. This is pure and downright funk from the seventies!!!!
