Online price is lower than in store price…they honor the one line price if you show them .. this is true for all products they sell..i.e. they honor the on line price! A lot folks don’t know this. I just got the anubias gigantica for $6.49 vs in store price of $10.99
Yeah they match anything on Chewy too
Can confirm. They had HOB filters for 50% off online but honored the discount in store which was awesome. Got a Tetra Whisper 30 for my 20 gallon long for $18.
They match live plants? If so that’s very cool!
What site you use?
Great tips, Joanna 😊 My PetsMart carries Betta size cups of Buce! It is generally nice and healthy. $9.99...for Buce...not bad if you ask me.
Yes! I saw a cup of buce at my local store and I passed it up, I thought "next time". Didn't see it for almost two years, and I got one last week! I am so happy, I know it's gonna be my new lowlight favorite!
@@sofiaflores6916 My store has some really nice Buce this week. I am trying to avoid going back 🤣
Yes! I got a Catherine Green and a Wavy green Buce the same way.
@@marielaavila9182 Awesome!! 😁
Great job showing what to look for in tissue culture plants so that you have the best chance of success. Petco tissue cultures have been a mixed bag for me. I've done really well with crypts and some of easier stem plants.
One thing to keep in mind is that you have to be patient, since you're starting with very small plants. It can take 12-18 months for the plants to come into their own.
Very helpful video. I do know a lot about outdoor plants, but this will help me make better choices for my aquarium!
Good stuff Joanna. Thank you for another fabulous informative video.
The petco plants I've gotten have been hit or miss, but I'm making it work.
A couple months ago I found the exact same cup of variegated Anubias!! I killed all of mine unfortunately. If I ever find some again I’ll leave it in vitro so that it grows more before I try to acclimate it. Loved this video! Thanks for sharing ❤
Of course now I want an Anubias Gigantea!
Gonna miss you guys tonight. Have fun this weekend!
I really wish we could upload pictures here. Started a betta tank 5 years ago on your inspiration, and it only just now has it's second inhabitant. The plants really make it. My new plakat really loves the tank.
I am new at this stuff. You are awesome. Now I know why my Anubias died. I planted them in the substrate. You are now my go to for aquatic plants. Cheers
Thanks Joanna! Hope you are having fun in Dallas! I usually get my plants from Flip or Dustin's I will check out Petco again!
the same cup of Rotala Indiica ammania bonsai had like 70 plants in it, covered half my 12 gallon long basically
Oh wow!
I got some White Rose Anubias yesterday at petco....half my plants are from their TC cups, all thriving
Ooooh!!! Fun name too!! 🌹 😊
Thank you for these very useful Petco Plant Shopping Tips!
I found an anubius dragon claw tissue culture at my LFS. I bought it and it's still in the cup 3 weeks later, I just had to have it!
What the heck! What a score!! 🐉 🌱👀
I actually found Anubias minima dragon claw in one of the tubes at Petco a couple days ago!
The Petco in Bryant, Ar. has an experienced Aquatic Specialist. He loves his job.
Living in Europe there's no Petco, but we have some chain pet stores which are similar. I almost never buy anything aquarium-related there, but there's a certain German hardware store chain which sells live fish and plants. Despite downsizing that section (in favor of cat and dogs) sometimes they have some interesting things.
Similar to that cup of Anubis Gigantea they had a cup of baby Amazon swords (which I had to buy).
Great video! Thanks for the tips!
I love learning about different types of aquarium plants from you! From Gina
Don’t you need co2 for the Anubias variegated? I was always told you do…love the channel and your vids! 💯🤙🏼
95% of the time the plants are dead or dying. Always worth a look though. I've found some great deals on unusual plants there. I'm always checking their buce packs too
Whelp...I'll be checking out PetSmart and PetCo this week, lol.
👍❤️👍
Haha!
The tissue cultures at my local petco are always brown blobs of goo. Maybe even plant soup.
Soup… 🤭. That’s too bad. I’ve seen some of those brown soups. Yuck.
Lol I never make it out of a petco or petsmart without going to the fish/plant section. Can't wait to see you guys during aquashella!!
Haha! It’s hard to resist for sure 😊Yay!! It will be so much fun!!
I've been on the fence ordering anything online as i live in socal and it seems like alot of these online retailers are not on this side of the country lol... Ive been mostly looking into Flip aquatics i seen some videos that from my understanding is their plants are kept in separate tanks from their animals. If so am i still better off quarantining plants bought from them?
I have to go to my local Petco today for kitty food/litter etc. I, like you, HAVE TO take a look at the aquarium plants. I love the large Anubius plants. My Angel's choose to lay their eggs on those big leaves...so cool. Have fun at Aquashella. I know Jason will take some great videos for all of us not going. Thanks guys❤😊
That is sooooo cool!! Fun to see that in your tank. I just told Jason and he said he will certainly try 😊
Petco 50% off sale on aquariums🙂might be checking kut some olants too.
I need to check out that anubias for my 25 hex!!
💚🌱😊
Never had good experience with petco/petsmart buce or Anubias. They melt after a few days and never seems to recover. Started buying submerged epiphytes.
Hi Joanna! 😊 Love that variegated anubias! 💚🌱🤍
It’s always a little heartbreaking to see good plants turning scummy in some of those cups, isn’t it? I’ve learned the hard way I shouldn’t try to rescue those at the discount price. It doesn’t work well for me.
Have fun at Aquashella!!
Yes! No resuscitating some of those poor little suckers, they’re just goners. Thanks so much, I hope we get a bit of warm weather there 🌞
@@thesmallscape Can you send some warm this way? Yesterday we had cold blowing snow for Trick or Treat. I told my husband as he passed out the candy to say “Merry Christmas!” Lol
@@cherylbelott I will pack up some warm for you for sure! We had snow too!! We are certainly 2 birds of a feather - I wished Merry Christmas to everyone I saw yesterday! 😂❄️😂
@@thesmallscape hahaha, I love it!! ☺️😊🤗
I got very little from Flip. Said I was getting 6 plants red Root floaters. I got 1 seven or eight leave plant with few Roots
I’m sorry to hear it. I never have any luck with red root floaters, they don’t like me much. I think you should reach out to flip with any questions or concerns on your order though! 😊
My local Petco doesn’t sell tissue culture. I’m a bit jealous.
Very nice video.
Thanks, Darryl! 😊
The avid gardener in me just can’t do fake plants in my tanks, makes me cringe! I actually get fish to benefit the plants, not the other way around 😅 “heavily planted” is the way, forever and ever amen 🙏🏻
I cringe seeing fluorescent gravel. I have never seen it in any lake or river. Lol
❤
Everytime I buy them at petco they melt and don't come back. Just recently got a rotala melted in one day. I don't run co2 I think thats necessary for tissue culture
That’s too bad! Hit or miss especially on the rotala
Bought 4 tissue cultures of the white anubias and they struggled big time. I’ve heard that CO2 is needed for it too thrive🤷🏽
I recently asked an associate, I am curious about the name of that plant species in the tank. It was a sword of some kind, I just wanted to specify. I was looking for a radican. He said it was a "spider plant." I had to step back from the tank to look at the noobs face. The guy looked committed to keep his hands out of the water. "I never heard of that plant. Do you mind if I check the nametag myself?" instead of taking a moment to educate himself the compulsive liar kept pushing the house plant name. Strange job choice. even the name tag had no info on the plant other than manufacturers internal serial numbers.
💚💚💙💙
The reason I buy 90% of all my plants from petsmart is because I don't have to worry about snail's I'm not a snail person especially since I started keeping shrimps as my cleaning crew
Yes, that is a good point!
My daughter found Java fern and demanded I put it in my tank. A year later and it took over.
Wow - lucky you!
I think the employees at mine take the good plants
🤭😂😩 that would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.
i like the anubias becaues its fast and its anubias but most of the other ones i do not like
You lied about Petco vine.. worst vid ever… not interested
